Man, this film got even better with age! Apollo was a terrific trainer; Rocky had no style, no real technique, and relied entirely on taking punishment and then dishing to the body. Apollo made him into a BOXER: fast, fluid, tactical, and evasive! And incredibly, he transformed him in just weeks! It speaks to Rocky's talent as a fighter to learn so fast, and the final fight with Clubber really showcases the best of both Rocky's style and Apollo's style: combined, it was unstoppable! It was as much Apollo in that ring as it was Rocky, and a terrific turn for both men, who each found a brother.

I do love as Apollo and Tony came to help Rocky when he needed help after Mickey's passing. It proves as they saw Rocky not as an enemy, but as a great boxer with potential and thought him their way to make him even better.
@danielhaire6677 Жыл бұрын
Part of Mickey's problem as he got older was that he came from the wrong era of boxing. It shows that one of his major fights was on the same night Jack Dempsey got knocked out. This is why Rocky's style was so force and power focused over mobility. Apollo and Duke recognized that about Rocky, and instead of replacing it completely, they merged it with modern mobility and tactics techniques.

Apollo was an integral part of Rocky’s story. He helped shape Rocky in to a tremendous fighter. He helped him get back that Eye Of The Tiger. We lost a great one in Carl Weathers this week. RIP King. Keep punching 🙏
