My husband dedicated this song to me at our wedding. It wasn't until recently, after watching our wedding video ( I had it converted from VHS to DVD) , I really listened to the words. My husband and I were married in 1997 and he passed away in 2021. And the words to this song are so emotional for me. Thank you so much for this song. Every time I listen to this song, it brings tears to my eyes because I miss my husband so much, but it is so touching that he felt this way about me. He was a wonderful man. At our wedding, I don't think I truly took in all the words and what they meant, but I am so grateful to have this song to listen to whenever I want to feel my husband just a little bit more. This song came out when my son was born and I used to hold him in my arms and dance to this song. It has so much meaning for me, I even quoted it in his high school yearbook. My cousin and me, we used to listen to this song when this came out. We had this on a cassette tape and played it over and over again until it got unplayable. We used to dream big and both him and me did have a stint at singing professionally. Back then there was innocence, hope and a sense of invincibility we both took for granted. We planned our future, marked our future achievements and laughed so hard that we forgot time exists. Evenings of riding around in the city, visiting friends, singing....just joy. Then time led to time and things led onto things and we started our own lives. It wasnt until he died all of a sudden that I realized how much I miss him. How much I wish we hadnt drifted apart. This song reminds me of when I still had that chance to change my future. I wish I did. I wish he was still here.

I saw Richard Marx in concert in Medford Oregon in August of 1988. I had started to grow my hair long (like his) going into my senior year of high school and my hair was naturally curly (not sure why). By the time school started my hair was down to my shoulders. Before graduation my mom made me trim it back so it was off my shoulders (this was because my grandparents were attending).

This song brings back so many memories of a more innocent time for me. Barely two when the 'Paid Vacation' album came out, it didn't have much of an impact on my life until a few years later. I remember the summer of 1997, my twin sister and I both five years old and traveling to Pensacola on our first family vacation ever. My mom put the 'Paid Vacation' CD in and put every occupant in the car's -mom, dad, older brother and his girlfriend (who would later be his wife), and my sister and I -favorite song on repeat: "Now and Forever." I felt like singing along and, having no idea what "madness" was, belted out: "You make sense of mayonnaise!" Hey, I was five! So, now and forever, "Now and Forever" remains immortalized in my family as the "Mayonnaise Song"... Silliness aside, this song is cherished for another reason as well in my family. My older brother's first dance with his wife was to this song two years after the mayonnaise debacle. They have been married now for over fifteen years, and there is no song in the world that strikes such a chord with its lyrics at what they have gone through. My brother has bipolar depression, and has been suffering with the condition for probably twenty years or more, along with severe obsessive compulsive disorder. He has spent so much of his time phasing between manic and depressive phases, but his wife (a true blessing from the Lord) has always remained at his side, "mak(ing) sense of madness when (his) sanity hangs by a thread." She has seen him go from almost committing suicide to being overjoyed that he has been blessed with two children he would die for in a heartbeat, children born from miracles because his wife has severe PCOS and was told she would never be able to have children because of it. Most couples in today's society would have parted years ago, but they both are "holding a fortune that Heaven has given to (them)." I wish music today had the magic of those from yesterday. This song is only two years younger than I am; it has stuck with me that long. There need to be more artists out there like Richard Marx who should make comebacks only to show people of this modern generation what musicality truly means. Thank you, Richard Marx, for bringing such a powerful song into the lives of my family. -vixenrevitup

Hey there!!!...he's never been away...i just think you don't hear a lot about him these days because pop music can only fit so many artists on their roster. Dig deep and you will find he released an album a couple of years back...even better, go to his website. You may even be able to contact Richard himself and tell him what his music has mean't to you. Just a thought...REPEAT OFFENDER touched me greatly and when i became a songwriter myself a while back i based one of my co-writes on the" DEEP story from the past" style lyric by an artist called JASMINE LAMPORT and her song STRONG on Richard's style...Deeply thought out lyrics basically...google it, you might get it...but find Richard Marx again...i certainly have.
