Raisa Cherry i think it's because there were certain rules back then, you composed and did almost everything yourself and watch when legends came from? Michael Jackson, George Michael , Freddie Murcery , Whitney , Celine etc! There are some great son writers today many great singers today, I think Adam Lambert has one of the best vocals ever! But they don't have the same freedom,often do what the label says, lot of autotune and many can't sing without! But yes, there are handful great ones but not in same fashion ! It's not cuz lack of great artist, it's the power labels has and let them often sing about sex,not love or material stuff! But I agree there are some out there but just nor like since start of the 90'ties, things changed!
