Pretty much how other transmissions are/were like to get the cluster out . Just cut the cage off and she pops right out . That guy ran the balls off that trans . When you start bangin' gears, especially with a diesel you better be ready to start buying hard parts when things go poof . lol I used to start laughing when a customer would whine about how expensive a rebuild was going to cost, when they have size 19 shoes . lol @@dzntz1

How about doing a follow up after disassembling a transmission that is showing bad wear like the Dodge NV 4500 telling and or showing what other problems were found. A re-assembly video would be great too. I subscribed to you after watching this video. Very professionally done video.

I worked on one of these for a guy who was too cheap to go to a transmission shop. He heard that there was a large nut holding (Its been quite a while ago) something in tight and if it backed off, things got ugly fast. I do remember it was four wheel drive and that nut was most likely about a inch and a quarter, more or less, It had some tangs on a locking washer that kept it from backing off. I did as he asked and of course it was not as tight as should be. At that point, I figure there is more damage on the inside but he said, "Just tighten the heck out of it" and so I did, then reassembled it. I will admit it did shift better and never gave him any problems after.

I have a video request... I wish you'd do a video each on generations of transmissions. For example, in the Mopar line do a single video on the 904,727 and all of their children to the 48re. Have them all blown apart and laid out on the floor. Point out similarities, evolutions and SPECIFICALLY interchangeable parts that can be used to improve upon a transmission (like interchangeable planetary gears that can be taken out of 1 transmission and put in another to add strength). Do 1 video each for mopar, gm, and ford. That would be some AWESOME tech!

Thank you for only showing us the fun part of transmission work, not the many hours of what comes next. Do you reference blow-apart diagrams when you put them back together? Like "does this beveled washer go on the shaft this way or that way?" Or you've just done so many of these you don't need them any more? My nightmare scenario is when a tranny that's been touched before was assembled incorrectly or with parts missing. I'm good at putting things back in the same order they came apart, but if something was installed backwards, in the wrong order or with a part missing... I'll never catch it!
