You're good. As a somewhat reluctant iPhone virgin, I have found so many 'beginners guides' and 'basics' videos which assume all you are doing is upgrading from an old iPhone to a new one. Aaaaaaagh! they waffle on at 100mph about setting things I dont give a Sh*t about and will probably never use, use jargon I dont understand and never explain it..... thank you for your slow and patient approach.

Thanks for giving some unknown clues to how to make this phone work - for Seniors (like my Mom) who are so intimidated, even swiping doesn't work. It's hard to explain if you are used to it but you help break it down for the old time Android users (or just older folks). Thanks!!

I'm not a senior, just here looking for tips on how to teach one. I feel like ,depending on the senior, any home button model is easier to get started with. People love and understand buttons lol. The 2022 and 2020 SE models are great, but Iphone 7s and 8s can also be bought used for great prices online.

I fully agree. That's why nearly all my recent iPad tips videos are with the basic home-button iPad. I'm looking at getting an iPhone SE as well. The home button just works better for those first learning how to use an iPhone or iPad. Thanks so much for watching and I hope the video was helpful.

I am really enjoying this video. Right off the bat, I learned a new trick. However when he got to trying to access the control center, I found that that depends on the type of phone you have. I have an iPhone SE. And in order to access the control center on that, I have to swipe up from the bottom. Just to let you know for those of you who have iPhone SE’s

Yes- One viewer suggested for future videos I let people know what device I'm using - because it can make a difference. You've confirmed that it's good advice. Also, I'm a fan of the SE though I don't own one. I've thought about getting one and using it for videos as well. Thanks for the helpful comment and thanks so much for watching!

Helpful indeed! You are gifted in your ability to communicate in a clear and concise way. I was a holdout on buying an iPhone forever till I gave in to the demands of my "very adult" children, and I am pleased I made the move, grateful for your help in every step so far and looking forward to whatever else remains. Thank you

Hey Rich! In the iPhone SE 3rd Gen (2022) the 'control center' is arrived at by swiping *up* from the bottom and to see all open apps one must 'double press' the Home button. And of course just press the Home button to go to the home screen.
@scottboettcher1344
@scottboettcher1344 Жыл бұрын
Oh Thank You! I was trying to make that work (I'm SE 2nd gen). Now that I was able to close the (gulp!) 38 Apps that were open on my phone, maybe my battery life will improve. Again, thanks!
@madm4tty
@madm4tty Жыл бұрын
@@scottboettcher1344 Quite late with this comment but you don’t need to worry about manually closing apps, the operating system is designed to handle keeping apps open, in fact it may actually worsen battery life by manually closing apps because it can require more power to reload the application into memory than just keeping it in the background.

Re: accidentally making a phone call; the answer is to use a case with a screen cover. This also reduces the chance of a broken screen.

Hi Rich, these videos are wonderfully clear. My Mum just got her first iPhone. We got SE because it is most similar to the iPad she is already familiar with. Did you ever make videos for iPhone with a home button that I could refer her to? Many thanks :-)
@RichBowlin
@RichBowlin 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't. The software on an iPhone with a home button or an iPhone with no home button acts the same. But I've had a lot of people make the same comment (including my mom), so I need to be sure to discuss this when I release a video. Thanks so much for watching!

@@RichBowlin I'm going to show this to my dad. The only thing I wish these videos had is an occasional acknowledgement of home button iPhones. The basics will be useful for him, but it will take some loosening up of his 2 months long fear of his phone to learn all this unfamiliar information in a second language *and* constantly think outside the box to ignore the slightly different layout.

Wiping from bottom half way you bring up all the open in the background screens. I have read conflicting articles on whether or not you should leave all these items open or weekly delete them. What is your advise and why? Roger of Orlando
