I did the same, sorta. Met Kerr at my HS gym. He coached his son's Penesquítos 7th/8th grade game on a Sat. morning, after us old guys played. After hitting the game winner, ran over to him sitting on bench, shook his hand and said "I love you, man," but really I just wanted to touch a hand that had touched MJ.

I always said it bugged me that he never raised his voice and pounded his fist until a black friend explained to me that then he would be the angry black man. I’ve heard that. But they exist to me in two very different categories. Dave’s show was more raw and heavily based on modern racial tensions. Key and Peele was a more appealing show for the broader population that touched on race but also sexuality and cinema and sports and just general comedic takes on everyday life. They are equal in my eye. In different ways.
