I think the Cowboys would be better off getting the hunt for their next QB started than dumping another 5 years into Dak Prescott. Like it or not, Dak owns some degree of responsibility for the Cowboys’ lack of playoff success. He’s been our QB for about 1/3rd of the drought since our last NFC Championship appearance. He’s shown a consistent habit of folding under the bright lights. If you you have a problem with their lack of success, you have to have a problem with Dak.

If you can’t run the ball or stop the run then you can’t win in the playoffs and they haven’t been able to do either. More pressure on Dak when the other team knows you gotta throw the ball. Not about the names around him as much as it what did they do in those playoff games? Run defense gets exposed and run game fails to show up. That’s not Dak.

I do agree their contracts are going to hamper the teams ability to sign more players, but they need to handle that by setting up their contracts to be signing bonus heavy to ease the cap hit. Also Dak, CeeDee, and Micah are all among the 5-6 best players at their position. There aren’t 5 QB’s consistently better than Dak.

Put this in perspective. Since the last Cowboys win in the big game in 95 I believe everyone but the Cowboys and the Redskins/WFT/Commanders in the NFC have made it to the championship game, not even the SB. Many multiple appearances. And the fact that the Cowboys, despite drafting some of the players they've had, have effectively been in the same position as the Dan Snyder era 3 name team that's been the tire fire of the NFC East, is absolutely mind boggling. The Lions have been legitimately closer, despite the Matt Millen era and the recent rebuild, to a SB then Dallas when we talk about their conference. Fans have every right to be upset when the standard for this team is not to win, but to be happy to belong. They, management, are satisfied since their superbowl to see their team either be in the hunt for a playoff spot, or locked in. Because their goal is no longer to win. Jerry Jones once went on a podium to make it clear, winning was the name of the game. Mike McCarthy used "Seize everything" - that is, "Carpe Omnia," as the goal for this team. It's not, stop kidding your fans. You're satisfied being the most valuable franchise the league currently has to offer. And your fans deserve better, as someone who doesn't like the Cowboys remotely nor should I. The fact you have a Cowboys fan on staff who is that emotionally like, affected by this team to where he's gotten to the point that "well at least we havent been in 3 SB's to lose them like the 49ers" tells you the real pain of this fanbase. It depends on how Dak plays this year if he has another MVP-caliber season and wins 12 games again with the Cowboys even if he chokes in the playoffs again he will get a massive deal from a QB-desperate team. Think smaller than Superbowls there are several teams out there who haven't been to the playoffs or decent in a long time who would all of a sudden have a shot with Dak. The Giants, Bucs, Panthers, Saints, Cardinals, Seahawks, Pats, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Raiders, Jets and Broncos could all be interested in Dak especially if their current QBs end up sucking.

Any QB who wants to win a championship would want to be in the AFC West, because it gives you the most opportunities to face your biggest rival. In regards to Dak specifically, if he wants to get paid, he should either stay in Dallas and strong arm them, or go somewhere like Vegas without an income tax. If he wants to win a championship, he should accept 10th highest QB money for a team like the Steelers that has a great roster but is a QB away. He could do this in Dallas too, but I don't think his pride would allow it after the hoops he's jumped through with Jerry.

9:40 I am a casual sports fan so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never understood this question. Why would you purposely choose to never make a Super Bowl/Final/Championship if you’re going to lose? I just don’t get it. Especially if you’re a team that either hasn’t won one ever, or hasn’t even gotten close at all in many decades. I’d much rather try and get there and lose than be worried about if I will ever see a relatively “meaningful” game in my lifetime. I will say I have much more interests in racing/motorsports, and some drivers can only dream of just close to a win (whether it be top 10, 5, or 3 depending on the discipline of racing), and never reach it. I don’t even have an NFL team I care that much about, but I’d rather be a 49ers fan and feel like you have a chance almost every year, than a team that you’re just happy got into the playoffs. I get that my opinion doesn’t reflect others, especially with my lack of true fandom in this particular sport.

As a Dallas fan, yes he should. In Dallas, you will never get a real GM, a real HC, they will always blame you when things go wrong, and bring up your contract (that the Jones negotiated). Being in Dallas means you will never win anything, esp with in owner who wants to be the star. 30 years, one constant. The problems in Dallas were here long before Dak arrived and will persist on to the next QB

Is that you Dak? Did you forget the Rams playoff game in 2018? Interception. Did you forget the 49ers home playoff game in 2021? Interceptions. Couldn't even score 10 points. Did you forget the 49ers road playoff game in 2022? Defense played their hearts out and Dak promptly threw two interceptions including one in the red zone. Did you forget last year? Defense played poorly, needed to be picked up, and Dak proceeded to throw multiple interceptions in the first half. DAK PRESCOTT DESERVES THE BLAME THAT HE GETS. Dak fans always have poor memories. Dak is an A-tier QB but not S-tier. He isn't the kind of QB where every defense in the league knows when they face the Cowboys, they have to game plan and have all of their attention on him, or they will lose the game. There are only 3 QBs who have that influence: Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson. Arguably, if you put CMC and J Jefferson on a team with those 3 QBs, a defense would still need to focus primarily on those QBs. He could get to a SB, but he'll need some other A-tier offensive talent, especially a RB, and hope that his team isn't going against one of the S Tier QBs, to win the SB.

If Dak stays in Dallas and continues to go out in first or second round for the rest of his career, that's not great but it's not bad either. If he goes to another team then the question becomes "were the Cowboys holding Dak back or was it the other way around?" If Dak switches teams and then they're now stuck going out early in the playoffs or, even worse, consistently miss the playoffs then Dak gets the heat for the Cowboy's struggles during his time there. If he stays it's all ambiguous. You don't know if it's him or the team. Russell Wilson switched teams and sucked while his old team made the playoffs with Geno Smith. Because of that he went from being discussed as a future hall-of-famer to the narrative suggesting that he was a product of the Seahawks system the whole time. Meanwhile Matt Stafford never gets out of the first round in Detroit and then goes to LA and wins a Superbowl and his narrative has completely flipped for the better. So there's a risk/reward to switching teams. If Dak is confident he can do better somewhere else then it's worth it to him but if he can't then it would destroy his reputation. Staying with the Cowboys is the safest option.
