Joe Davis will one day be one of the greatest sports broadcasters to ever call baseball...mark my words. His voice has always been iconic and his sense of humor in the booth is perfectly suited for his role. Every time I watch a home dodger game, it's comforting knowing hes calling the games with Orel. Keep doing what you're doing Joe, we love you in LA man!

I definitely would make so many back-ups of that voice mail. It's a once in a lifetime type of treasure. It's sad to think there's so many young fans out there who'll never get to experience a Vin Scully broadcast live. Probably the best part of watching through those years of their struggles in the earlier part of my life.

I'm not a Dodgers fan, but I used to listen to Dodgers game before Vin retired. I loved the way he was able to paint a picture of the game and make you feel like you were right there next to him. Like he was telling just you this story. Listening to that voice-mail took me back to those times. It was truly serendipitous that he sent it the call to voice-mail because he has a little something that not a lot of people have.

I love hearing experiences like what you shared. Baseball on radio created so many great memories for so many throughout the country. I grew up on a farm in Kansas. Royals on radio was a must. No matter what kind of work we were doing. I would have given anything to tune into a Dodgers game. Now, as a 53 yr old, I listen to old Vin Scully games on old time radio as I fall asleep. The best ever.

I was a diehard Yankee fan until 1962 when Vin Scully converted me into a Dodger fan. He was a one-of-a-kind. Encyclopedic knowledge of the game combined with endless, mesmerizing stories. Later in life, the Padres became a major league franchise, and I began to root for my home team. However, when they played the Dodgers, I always made a point to listen to Scully’s account of the games.

Joe Davis has been an incredible successor to the legendary Vin Scully. As a die hard dodgers fan, it was a big adjustment when Joe signed the big contract with Fox, getting less Joe Davis in Dodgers but gifted NFL games with his great broadcasting skillset. He's done the world series, he will soon get a shot at the biggest game on TV, the Superbowl! Joe Davis is a legend!

Okay, replacing Vin is an impossible task. We all agree on that. The problem with Davis is he's so young he doesn't know much about MLB history and vintage players names. Every story he tells about the past is totally scripted and obviously fake. He's okay for regular season TV broadcast but he was painful and boring in the World Series. (Him and Smoltz were terrible.) All you have to do is watch other teams broadcast and announcers to realize he's not even close to most. I guess he seems to get a pass because its the Dodgers, but sometimes it seems like he's announcing a chess match.
