We gutted the offensive staff, benched the starting QB, then hired someone with no experience. Classic tank job, and it worked. Idk wtf the Lakers are doing.

Jeff Saturday was never given a HC contract. He just took over as an interim on a season we already gave up on. It's not as dumb as people like you act. If he got a new contract, then it'd be worth mocking, but it really wasn't that crazy. Colts now have a top 10 HC, easy.

To be completely fair though, JJ has been through the fire in that regard.. if you remember back to his Duke days, he was one of the more hated athletes I’ve ever seen.. and his response to that was part of why I’ve been a fan since then.. he’s got that dawg in him.. I think him not giving af is pretty sincere.. And obviously a different scenario here, but it’s like with anything, if you stay focused on the task at hand, you have a better chance of reaching the goal.. plus, guys like JJ and Lebron would be way more let down by not getting there than by boos or media scrutiny.. that’s what confidence and self-criticism/improvement can do.. imho at least

For the love of god don’t get any of the atl players. Tre can’t play defense and every point guard in the west is elite, Murray isn’t even a top 5 sg in the league. They need to stick with Austin trade dlo vando and another piece for young talent role players and trade down in the draft to acquire more picks then you could go after someone without trading away your team like they have been doing for years now

He's gonna be a phenomenal coach. I just don't think Hurley would have succeeded. Transitioning from the college to NBA as a coach is very tough. JJ's personality , his conpetivness , confidence, him really leaning into the X's and O's / analytics and someone who's seen as a basketball savant and genius and someone who's seen also as a leader this was a excellent hire and man oh man he's gonna be one hell of a coach. Super happy! Was the clear best candidate in the entire process compared to the other candidates and will be very fun to see him in action moving forward

JJ seems to be a genuinely good guy. But this just shows the lack of respect the Lakers have towards the head coaching position. JJ is woefully unqualified to be a head coach in the NBA least of which the Lakers organization. I’m not one for conspiracy but it seems like Lebron wanted him as coach, there was some pushback from the team so the brought in Dan Hurley, lowballed his offer so they could say, hey we tried to get someone but they didn’t take the offer so we went with JJ.
