I will say tho, I honestly don’t know how much better the team would be with Aaron Rodgers, something that’s getting lost here is just how bad the o line is, we have to remember why is Aaron hurt? And how did Aaron look on that first drive before he got hurt? Obviously I think they would be slightly better than they are now but if u can’t protect ur quarterback, especially a pocket passer like Aaron, what are we really expecting this veteran to do? I hope for jets fans sake they heavily prioritize the o line this off-season, otherwise I think we are in for another year of frustrating football

Sam Howell was getting hit and sacked at a historic pace but he was still able to put the ball in the end zone. You can scheme around it with a QB that _knows what he's doing back there_ -- which is something that is lost in all the 'bad OL' takes.

No QB in 2023 is calling their own plays. In fact the last guy who even had close to free reign was Peyton, and he only called the play out of the 4-5 options OC Tom Moore gave him. The amount of stuff that is happening pre snap is more than most QB’s can process, let alone being the initial play caller as well.

@@MistyMountainVideo Yes, Aaron Rodgers has had a lot of experience calling his own plays. With Mike McCarthy, in certain situations, he would simply turn the play calling over to Aaron and with Matt LaFleur, when he wanted to call his own plays, he would pretend his headset in his helmet was out after that had happened on occasion. Aaron also often changes the play calls at the line of scrimmage based on what he sees in the defense pre-snap; it is where his famous hard count comes from because he can get defenses to draw offsides and get the free play.

I'm not a Jets fan but it's painful to watch the same problem play out, team after team after team, who pay stupid money for skill players and killer D's and then _totally_ neglect their offensive line, which in my mind is the most impactful unit on either side of the line of scrimmage. They can make or break an offense. I've watched it play out since 2014 with my Seahawks; up until last season Pete Carroll and John Schneider's philosophy was "We don't need to blow a lot of draft or FA capital on an offensive line coz we've got Russell Wilson." We've seen how successful the Seahawks have been getting back to the Super Bowl since 2014. They waited to disappear Wilson before taking the O line seriously, got two great rookie players at Offensive Tackle, and got themselves some depth at the O line, and at least until a few games ago they made Geno Smith look like a superstar. I can't emphasize enough how crucial a talented and healthy offensive line is to a team's success. Without it, I don't care who you have playing QB or RB, they're just ordinary -- assuming they stay vertical.

If the Jets are relying on Rogers for a second year in a row then it's a classic case of fool me once... Why would the Jets want to rely on a 40 year old QB when other QB's a little more than half his age are being knocked out left and right? If the NFL isn't paying attention to the growing injury problem and not connecting it to the extra regular season game, Thursday games, and other scheduling shenanigans then the NFL will continue it's downward spiral of team with the least amount of injuries wins by default. Wilson can always do better, but watching the game, what happened to the O-Line? Run game could not function as the O-Line could not block, or create the openings for Hall. How can Wilson get the ball out quicker if he does not have anyone open, or no-one blocking? Add to that the fumbles, drops and penalties, and you have a perfect storm. Would AR do better in this team? Probably, but it will be interesting to see if he plays with the same O-Line or it gets upgraded

As a Broncos fan who watched Hackett's offense last year...it was AWFUL. In Denver he kept running an offense out of shotgun with a line that was AWFUL with pass protection. He never changed the offense when it was obvious it was not working. I know people blamed Wilson for the offense, but when the backup quarterback played (who is no longer in league), he still kept throwing the ball vs running the ball. When the ownership group fired Hackett, the temp coach who has a special teams background changed the offense and had the team focus on running the ball which led to a close lose to KC and a win over the Chargers (when the coach from the Chargers played his starters). Hackett is a nice guy, but how he has a job in the NFL is crazy. His best season was with the Jax when they went to the AFC Championship Game...and he focused on running the ball. The Broncos feel your pain because the team hired Hackett to get Rodgers and then Denver didn't get Rodgers and Seattle took the Broncs two premium first round picks and two second round picks....so it could be worse. At least the Packers don't have the Jets first round pick.

Of course Aaron Rodgers should. It will keep him from showing off in the middle of someone else's game. Just look at how good he is now. How good is Nathaniel Hackett? You can't be good with only one QB. Just look at Josh McDaniel. How does Allen Lazard look?

Even if the Jets where in the playoffs Aaron Rodgers shouldn't come back this year. The idea of him coming back from that injury in less than 4 months is laughable, and I can't believe that people are actually buying into the idea that this is possible. Why? Because he can throw some balls in warm-ups? So?! The leap from being able to throw the ball around and being able to return to a live NFL game is astronomical

I've been saying this for weeks that even if he could Rodgers needs to stay off the field until 2024 there is no reason to come back to a team this bad.

I agree on AR coming back this season. Don't see the point with their record and it's just risking another injury.

I do feel for Jets fans. Rodgers was never a long term plan anyways, and they lost him immediately and who knows if he’ll be 100% next year. But they still need to find a great young QB to develop, and that could take a while. They better hope Rodgers takes them to the SB next year because they’ll probably be back in rebuild mode soon

Dear Jets GM & Head Coach - You dropped the ball not signing Josh Dobbs or someone else to take over for Wilson when you had the chance. I’m no Jets fan, but my bro-in-law is. Thanks for snuffing out his hope for the playoffs and wasting Aaron Rodgers’ incredible comeback/rehab effort. Happy thanksgiving and enjoy your next job. I think Dobbs would have been a perfect plug, too. Have to wonder when you have that kind of defensive talent amassed, and then you go and pass on spending on a chance ticket to the playoffs with a veteran like Dobbs? I get the O-line is trouble, but as for a quick fix, Dobbs could run and in that since, at least give the offense a shot. Definitely think the Jets would have had a playoff chance with a mobile QB. Ah well, it's almost like they're saying they absolutely do not have a chance this year. And the Jets defensive roster is stacked. Man. Feel bad for Jets fans... 😆🦃🤣✌️❤️

I'm pretty sure Aaron did said he was coming back as a morale booster to get the team to do well and didn't really have much hope of coming back this year.

Nice to see Rich finally seeing things real. The sell out and letting Rodgers run the team should be the final breath of the Jets. Almost as bad as selling the team to Watson like the browns.

Rich Eisen, Joe Benigno, Evan Roberts, no matter which one you listen to after a Jets collapse you can hear the pain and despair in their voices. To repeatedly be kicked in the nuts when you let yourself believe for a second that maybe there's a glimmer of hope. Maybe that's why Chris Berman long time converted to a Bills fan.

My personal hot take: the Jets getting Rodgers and not trading Zach Wilson was the worst thing for Wilson. Not only are you telling him he isn't it but then go get all of Rodgers' favorites and OC just for him, not Zach. Then say Wilson is your backup?! Now Wilson is forced to use whats not best for his success and support. Sorry, I totally know Zach Wilson is a disappointment but the Jets are the problem here. This is simply on them. They selected him, didn't support his strengths, play him right away and embarrassed him, to a degree, along the way. The Jets got what they deserved.
