The scots played super dirty. You see how their entire team sat down when they were either being pulled or needed to rest close to the finish line? That is considered falling down and is not allowed in tug of war. However each team gets 2 cautions to account for accidents, but the scots were obviously taking advantage of this rule. You can see the referee in the middle holding up his fingers for how many cautions a team has. Not only this but holding your hand on the ground for a "long" period of time is a foul and you can repeatedly see members of the Scottish team doing this to get more traction when they are "getting up". They also don't get up right away after falling down and tend to loiter around on the ground to get more resting time. This ends up with them looking like dogs with itchy butts. Here is all the bits that the Scottish team did dirty plays 2:44 3:26 5:16 7:33 8:03 (This is them not getting up from 7:33. A WHOLE 30 SECONDS of resting???) 10:58
@Steven-mk4gg5 жыл бұрын
Let me preface with, I am absolutely oblivious to the rules of Tug. With that out of the way, 2 questions (both earnestly asked out of curiosity,) and a statement for you, as you seem to know at least more than me about this. Question 1, if these fouls were so egregious, why were no penalties imposed upon the Scotts? Question 2, when the Scotts were resting, and not pulling, was not the Chinese team able to rest as well? Considering there was no pull from the Scotts for them to fight against. Finally, I would state, from a perspective of a much different genre of sports, "playing dirty," as long as within the allowable rule set, is part of the game. Meaning, good boxers clinch, and hold the back of the head. A good mma fighter will grab a fence once in a while. So while "dirty" yes, using the full range of rules set down is only another part of mastering the full technical limitations of a sport. As long as you are not dq'd, and the match can finish, you were within the rule set. Exploiting 2 warnings is only using the full rule set. If another team doesnt do it too, it is their own fault. Some call it dirty, and it may well be, but where I compete, we call it mastery. Thanks 👍
