The Richie Brace is a custom made AFO. In order to get a Richie Brace you need to have a doctor's prescription and be evaluated by a professional (doctor, podiatrist, orthotist, pedorthist). They will take a cast of your foot and lower leg which will be sent to an orthopedic lab for manufacture.

I have emery dreifuss muscular dystrophy. I have tried braces from Hanger that just don't work even when they cast my legs. I have a slight foot drop on my left foot with supination. Would this benefit me?

Hi Jerry, The Richie Brace is a custom medical device that needs to be prescribed by a physician. In order to have one made you will need a medical professional to take a cast of your lower leg and foot. You can find a local podiatrist by searching www.aapsm.org/ , OR www.apma.org/ . Best wishes. You would need a prescription from a physician and also a cast. Watch this video to see how a cast is taken: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYK0iaCLo9Kpfa8 . But also make sure you find out exactly what you need. If you really have foot drop for 10 years there are probably many options. I am sure there are good practitioners in your part of the world who will know exactly what you need.

Skidoo Gaming My CARBON FIBER AFO BREAKS ALL THE TIME because I hike, run, and all sorts of stuff. Depends on the type of AFO you have and the material it's made out of. A strong, padded plastic one with hinge action might work. Not sure about this brace though, haha.
