I used to watch Rusty and George in a Denver band named Boenzee Cryique in the mid 60s. I was baffled to see a steel player tackle rock guitar solos on a pedal steel and whip most of the 6 string players in town. He was so creative! I was especially thrilled to see them in Poco. He was a blessing for all of us.

I had no idea. Well they missed the Hall of Fame. No point now. WIthout Rsty, it would be like without Richy. Hes right, "We are never prepared" Im sure hes in the right place" Ive been crazy about these guys ever since "Deliverin" I remember the liner notes on the back they were so great. It went something like this "They descended on Boston Like the Great Ra" They always did. They shed light wherever they went.

Poco -- one of my favorite bands -- so much incredible talent there, and never received the recognition they deserved. ❤ So happy Richie found the Lord. 💖

I'm a Christian too and I know we all go to heaven at the end of our time here. But being a fan of music and the artists that make it . It's hard to take the news when one of your music hero's has passed on. You never think there will be a time when they are not here. My heart has hurt over the passing of some of my music hero's. I thought they would always there and they didn't want anything but for you to buy and listen to their music. Thank you for the great interview.

I like how Ritchie makes it clear that despite one’s faith, death is something that hits everyone harder than they could ever imagine. Losing someone close is traumatic for everyone. Faith doesn’t dissolve one’s human emotions. Faith doesn’t demand so cheery eyed attitude to what befalls us as flesh and blood humans.

I just lost a VERy close & dear friend. Richie F summed it up beautifully. "The eye has NOT seen, nor the ear has heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man...what God has in sore for them for those who love Him". I personally look forward to that day!

Than you, Jon, for giving Richie the liberty to speak from his heart, and share his perspective as a follower of Christ. I appreciate your respect for other people's points of view concerning faith and spirituality, whether you agree with them or not.

Poco was a natural harmony strength band everybody loved . These bands were sources for my bands to cover and I loved them all. Great stuff that still works today as IT IS STUFF THAT HAS SUBSTANCE & FEEL THAT REMAINS EFFECTIVE TO THE EAR.

I appreciate Ritchie sharing the hope he has as a believer in Jesus. I share the same faith and hope as he does. I also resonated with his comment there is never a way to fully prepare yourself for the death of a loved one. Thanks for the great interview!

John, Thank you for allowing a "Christian" to express themself. Thank you for not editing out this part of the interview. I believe many would and that isn't good because it allows us viewers to better understand the person's perspective on what may have inspired their musical input... or not. Whatever people believe or not, is part of their makeup and if we viewers really want to "connect" with them it's important to hear the good, bad and ugly! Again, thanks!!!

I saw Poco in late Feb/early March 2000 right before the COVID in Florida. Front row, Rusty Young was amazing as usual. A great loss to the music world. And just today, we lost another former Poco member, Paul Cotton. Again, brilliant and gone way too soon.

Richie probably spent more hours of his life with Rusty Young than he did with many of his closest relatives. I met Rusty just once when Poco played Portland's Euphoria Tavern in April 1983. I went to the men's room just before the show to get rid of a beer and I ended up standing next to Rusty doing the same. I told him how much I loved his pedal steel playing on Poco's 1975 cover of an early Steely Dan song "Dallas." He told me how much he admired Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's playing on the original and that Steely Dan and Poco were ABC Records labelmates at the time. I still have my "Head Over Heels" album that I bought just so I could play "Dallas" whenever I wanted.

I too was able to shake Rusty's hand after a gig (not in the men's room) I told him how much I enjoy his PSG playing that night on Indian Summer. I also told Paul Cotton that my 1st Poco album was Head Over Heals...still maybe my favorite. Trying to work up and record an all Guitar version of Crazy Love.

Rusty Young's death was a shocker. I think any death is a shocker. But as time moves forward most of my musical heroes are going to have an earthly end. Just as I will have a earthly end. Our hope is not here but in the future with God. Richie is left with the memories of his time with Rusty and his time in the band. I am glad that Richie is still making music and still performing. I guess there was always hope that the original band could have one last gig together but that will not happen. Thankfully we do have avenues where their music can be heard and cherished.

I was a little disappointed when I read somewhere in the news that Rusty refused to honor a contract that Paul Cotton's been requesting for the last 15 years and ended leaving the band. It was sad as Cotton's wrote some of the best top songs of Poco, guess Rusty must be jealous of Cotton.
