2006 was the BEST year for reggae and dancehall music in my opinion: All the hit songs are now classics from: this song, temperature, dutty wine, bun him, serious times, behind these prison walls, coming over tonight, church heathen... 2006 was the closest we came to being as good as the 90's.

Very few songs validate the beauty of Brown.Black women. This is one of them. I appreciate it. Thanks Richie Spice #uplifting #positive #inspiring #empowering
Every aspect of this song is gorgeous. The lyrics, his vocals, and the emotion. The NYC clubs get to rockin' when this comes on! Yes, we need more songs like this. There's enough out there to validate white and light skinned women. You gotta expect some politics in some reggae songs, and this one sends the most positive of messages. Love Richie for his bold delivery on this one!

It's crazy how black/brown people are on here arguing about him saying "brown skin". To me he's referring to black women period. Whatever shade you are. It's really sad when our own people have such self-hatred. Embrace your shade and love it whether it's light or dark. Stop measuring your beauty by what other cultures think. We have a great culture that could be greater if only we changed our thinking and support and love each other as we are. How do we teach our children to love themselves when we can't do the same.

Why are these millennials spreading their vile about a song that is almost 10 years old?! That song is all about praising the beauty of Black women, especially West Indian women. Leave Richie Spice out of your racist hate.

@janetcousins72509 жыл бұрын
The song speaks to and celebrates the (beautiful) range in colour/colouration in the skin tones of black women,as the video clearly shows. In fact in an interview about the song Richie Spice said that he purposely used the description brown and not black because the colour of "black" people is really brown. He also implied that he included women of lighter tones because(whites) do not accept them as white,but black people are willing to accept them as black. In fact, if i remember correctly his exact words were "nobody else no want them"
