I could never understand why this genius and absolute master of a musician is so underrated. He outplays and outsings so many of the so-called "guitar gods" and even most of the singers. The man has a strong groove, can shred your socks off, can play soulful blues lines and so much more. He should have been much more popular than he really is!

what amazes me most is that he is the same bloke from the REH instructional guitar videos who i watched for many, many hours, back in the very early 90s. how much a guy can grown really. immense talent. started with the fever dream record and never looked back; I miss the oddball records thou; the fusion instrumentals, the R&B stuff, the blues/country-ish tracks etc.

The guy in the video looks like Nuno Bettencourt ^^ Richie is so incredible musician. The best thing about his guitar playing over the years is that he evolved from a shredder to absolute god tier musician with incredibely tasty licks and feeling. He is able to stop himself from going to shred-mode and expose only technique. Instead, he plays eargasmic licks over and over again. I can not wait any longer to see him play live again in Poland! You are truly my guitar idol, Richie.

The man is simply one of the greats of all time. Think about all of the "Varney" guys. How many are still around in this capacity? I don't think Richie ever wanted to be one of those guys in the first place, but he was....but pushed the envelope on the term, "prodigy" further than was intended. He still does.
