genuinely curious. honestly i still don't get how the economics of the store. they book flights for 5+ people to go to a sneaker convention to try to make a few hundred bucks on 1 pair of sneakers? how does that add up? is it worth 3 hours of their time to try to squeeze $200 more on 1 pair of sneakers?

Consider the economics of this being a business expense for the people that are investors/store owners/employees. It’s a consumers/supplier business in one way. Additionally the videos we watch generate money for them to contribute to the costs. The flights can be pre purchased at good rates, rooms could be 2-4 people in a room with a loyalty rewards program.

Individualism is the new hype, with brands like Asics/Onitsuka Tiger, New Balance, On, and Salomon allowing people to try new silhouettes and the switch to more formal shoes people have moved on from Adidas and Nike. They’ll come back, but not for a few years.

Brands like Asics, New Balances, etc., hit a wave like every 5-10 years & then their hype dies out again. About 10 years ago, Asics & NB's were trending as well & then died off. This is nothing new. Yall must be newer sneakerheads if this is the first time you've experienced this Asics/New Balance/Runner shoe hype. It happens like every 5-10 years or so. I'm glad other brands are pushing Nike's buttons though, specifically with basketball sneakers, but Nike is still going to be on top though, in terms of sales, popularity, etc.
