Are we singing in tongues towards the end? Old Brother Frank turned half of “I Am Blessed” into “ I Am Blennn?” They say don’t get too much into your heroes…..I am a born and bred Lower Appalachian Baptist who was a rotten, filthy, lowly, sinner who was redeemed by the Grace of Jesus Blood let out on Calvary. With that truth being stated, I will go onto the recently regretful finding that my former hero Ralph Stanley did not let me down like most of my heroes such as Bill Monroe with his womanizing but, my former hero Ralph Stanley let me down after his passing because after all the years of proclaiming he was a Baptist and after singing so many great gospel hymns and songs….My friends, I fear that the world and the devil’s usual temptations got to old Ralph. See…..there was a strange transition period Ralph went through. About the same time Hollywood’s film and music industry reached out to him with obviously a lot of money and the fame Ralph secretly wanted after years of Nashville denying his entry into halls of worldly appreciation and approval, Ralph was finally offered that notation of being in the group of men in (disgustingly Low) high places. Around his period of high notoriety and after awarded his Doctorate from the secret club of nasty men……Ralph began to wear strange feminine crystals, pendants, and broaches…it was also apparently visible that Ralph stopped wearing his manly cowboy hats on stage and began his strange practice of no longer combing back his hair like a man, but actually perming it making him look undoubtedly like an old woman. Why? I don’t know exactly, but these cults in the secret rights clubs make many members go through strange initiations. Ralph had his unmatched talent of backing Carter with high tenor, but I noticed in his “O’ Brother era, Ralph began sounding more and more like a woman. I always wondered and worried about the “Christian” man that Ralph Stanley always claimed he was. Well….just recently, I looked into his funeral services and by goodness my reservations for Ralph’s last 25 or so years was right. I was just reading a few nights ago about Baptist churches and how some have pastors and leadership who are full fledged members of the satanic cult known as Freemasonry. Ralph was a comfortable supporter and member of his local Masonic Lodge in southeast Virginia. I was so saddened recently the other night when my hunch after all these years was confirmed. I pray that Ralph never denied my Lord for a buncha fancy modern day warlocks wearing aprons acting like a buncha filthy fairies.
