Hey 👋 there just curious what kind of maintenance have you done for it and is there any parts that has failed yet all these times since owning yours ? I’m looking to purchase the 156 or 157 can’t really decide yet. I like the 157 because newer body and technology inside the cabin. Any thoughts ? Thanks
@DavidTseng923 жыл бұрын
@@erico6117 Hi! I've had my car for 4 years and 30K miles and no issues with the engine. Only thing that have been surprise repairs were a torn thrust arm bushing and fuel pump control module but that's not necessarily M156 related. I've done a lot of preventative maintenance with parts from FCP Euro. For the engine, I've done the fuel injectors, pcv valves, new spark plugs and gaskets, valve gaskets. Non engine preventative maintenance have been control arms, flex disks, abc fluid flush, accumulators. I might do the headbolts, lifters and cam shaft adjusters in a year or two. I personally think the M156 sounds better which is why I chose it over the M157. Naturally aspirated engines will probably never come back at Mercedes which makes NA engines more special to me. Everyone has a difference opinion on it so it's all up to you which one you'd like.
@pramay51162 жыл бұрын

@@pramay5116 you will get camshaft position or correlation codes when they start to go. The most noticeable sign of failing lifters is loud ticking from the engine bay at idle. In 2012 I moved up to another E63 with the M157 biturbo and P30. It was noticeably faster and still sounded very good but not like the M156. I believe he says in the video that starting in 2012 the M156 engines have the black plastic valve covers but it starts with cars made in the early part of 2011. I’m not certain of the exact date but from what I can tell it’s production dates as early as January 2011 for model year 2011 in the US.

I'm about to roll over 130,000 miles on my unmodified 2011 C63 AMG. I was fortunate in missing the bad head bolts by like 500 engines and the car has been quite reliable overall. As luck would have it, I just had to replace the A/C compressor for $1400, which is the most I've spent on a repair for it. Wear items due now and being addressed are front struts and the plastic trim on a couple of the climate control vents--broken plastic trim...that's C class for ya lol. I had horrible luck with aftermarket air filters (would throw codes constantly), so I went back to stock type filters and the problem went away. I love this car, it is truly a Jekyll/Hyde car. It can cruise easily all day long, comfortably under 2000 RPM on the highway, but turn into a raging AMG V8 beast in an instant. I stay on top of the fluid changes and when she's driven, visit the fuel pump often ;)

I see no reason to hate the engine, exepct the reliability, but for sure one of the greatest engine made, that 6.2 n/a madness is the most thrilling engine I have felt

Just sold my C63 2013 6.2, Be warned as they have the ability like any supercar to cost a fortune,eye watering bills if your unlucky, I enjoyed it for 12 months and am glad I did it, But beware they are super expensive to run with big potential for problems.

Great memories , I used to own in order of car & yr from new:- 2011 c63 PPP WEISTEC’d, 2014 c63 507 wagon WEISTEC’d ,2016 E63 AMG(s)WEISTEC’d , 2017,C63s coupe 600bhp mapped, in 2019 I finally gave up on AMG’s after finding the after sales customer care literally non existent and how the cars are built so moved onto Audi’s -- happily drive an R8 plus coupe 🤨

My first ever Mercedes was a 1997 C36 AMG in Brilliant Silver, It was a great looking car with that AMG body kit and that 3.6 engine loved to rev !, It had a very mean take off from a standing start in the dry (it would pull you back in your seat if you gave it too much gas !), the down side was the C36 was VERY bad in the damp and wet, the slightest bit of throttle and the rear wheels would spin and go sideways !!!! - This is not a car for the faint hearted ! but I remember it very well !! 20 years on at the age of almost 44, I now have the 2009 CLS 63 with that mighty jumbo 6.2 v8 m156 engine and I absolutely love it ! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 You just cannot beat the sound of the M156 - It sounds awesome ! 😍😍😍😍😍😍

TOBIAS SCHÜLTZ hand built M156 engines were blessed by god not to fail I bought a C63 2011 PPP and I supercharged it years later and enjoyed 5 yrs of happy driving , also my brother bought a non forged c63 that believe it or not also had an engine built by Tobias what a rare coincidence to have 2 cars by the same builder yup no problems whatsoever I had faith in the cars and I believe firmly that a builder like Tobias will be a mindset for an owner to own a car that will be reliable... I truly will miss the na m156 motor 😢

Yeah, the M156/159 has its troubles. But I can't think of any other high-displacement V8 that's as responsive or free-revving as this is. And with a soundtrack like this engine has, IMO, it's one of the best N/A V8 engines ever produced.

Lexus v8s revs up to 8k and are among the best and most reliable v8 engines plus the N/A sound is amazing

I’d like to see a M159 upgraded C63 fully modded. It’d be sweet! Has anyone done one or is it not worth the money?
