I'm a veteran crocheter( self taught since I was 14....about 50 years ago!) I do love finding these stitches that are new to me! I needed a great stitch like this one to quickly whip up some new potholders for my new apartment,since I'm on a baking binge too lately,and have the time at my age to enjoy all my interests! Thank you for the concise and clear instructions! I only had to watch once and now I'm of to raid my stash and see what cotton yarns I have! Subbed and I appreciate you!

I learned to do this and the double crochet version about 50 years ago from a neighbor, I have never seen this stitch since. I always used cotton thread to make potholders. I have shown a few people how to do this one, I am glad to see it out and about. I think it's a great stitch. Thanks for sharing😁💖

Sarah, I had heard of the Thermal stitch but never worked it. Thank you for this tutorials Sarah. You explain the stitches very well and go slow enough for inexperianced crocheters like me. I kind of tend to the easier stitches. I just learned the sedge stitch which is so pretty and now I will practice thermal stitch as well. It looks easier than what I had thought. Thank you again Sarah.
@julies55154 жыл бұрын
I think i finally got it. Tried this again and your method of starting with the row of single crochet is by far easier. I have seen some videos where you start with the foundation chain and jump right into working in the back loops. That can get frustrating fast. Oh and yellow yarn probably not the best color choice to practice a new stitch, but i got it.
@wendy2blu3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so very much. This is the perfect speed at which to learn, and your instructions were so clear. I loved hearing your dog in thre background! Helps me remember you're a real person. Lol! I'm using this stitch to make a blanket square that I'll send off to a volunteer who will join it with other squares into a blanket to be donated to folks living on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. This will be a warm, squishy addition to help someone keep warm.

I love this stitch, I found it last year and used it with #4 macrame cord. Boy was it thick, I waffeled a little on the edges and forgot to close the end, but I like the overall look and feel of this tight rug, for rug is what thick cording done in this stitch is. I may have had the name of the stitch given to me, but that video was in English. Thank you for refreshing my memory.

Like your way of teaching. Soothing voice. I've been using this stitch for making pot holders and a blanket for a few years now. The only thing that I do different is the last row. Instead of doing a single crochet I slip stitch. To me personally it looks more like the beginning rows. But that is just my personal preference.

This is such a good video tutorial. I was having trouble on the ends of rows. Also I don't turn my work, I keep the front facing me and I turn my hook a full clockwise circle at the end of each row which gives me a nice ens of row stitch. Your video clearly showed which helped me see how to find and hook that last sc at end of rows. That back loop of lower stitch kind of hides. Now my square is perfectly square. Thank you 🏵

O love the stitch, it's really warm but stretchy. I am working on a headband for autumn/winter. I cannot imagine doing a blanket with this, the headband is growing so slowly already...
@milkmaid43384 жыл бұрын
Oh good idea! I haven’t been too impressed with headbands I’ve done in regular single crochet.
@dude9884 жыл бұрын
@@milkmaid4338 I made two headbands now. One in rows back and forth, the others in circles. It works both ways. In circles you have more control whether it gets to big or to small. Even though both got a bit to big because they are stretchy and I had to decrease more than a few stitches. Use a bigger hook, I used a 6.5 (my biggest at the time) and it's still a bit to stiff. But very warm in the rainy autumn right now.

This is a great technique! Making myself a pair of really fat solid potholders with double cotton yarn. Takes forever to crochet, but no more oven burns for me!
@MaryJCrisp3 жыл бұрын
Did you need to use double yarn?
@gittekjaerulff95113 жыл бұрын
I chose to use double cotton, to make them as thick as possible. I used crochet hook size 4. When washed in hot water, they shrink a little, so I guess hook size 4.5 would have been fine too

It's also fun to do two colors, one on each side. And you cut a 6" fringe by cutting every color, at the end of every row. Built-in fringe! I always have trouble making sure I complete that very last stitch of each row... it's much too easy to stop one stitch early.
