One of my favorite Rick moments EVER is in this episode. That moment where the White House slowly begins to realize just what it has gone up against and starts having doubts about their chances is GLORIOUS! Then the cherry on top is Rick's speech about being so superior to them that he might just as well be a God to them. - Get the President out of here! - Bad idea. - Wait. Why? - Because if there isn't someone in here that they're not supposed to kill, they're going to wreck the place trying to kill me. As long as you live, no matter where you are, if it isn't in a selfie with him, I'll be here. - Jesus! He's not a fucking God! - You don't know what I am! And you don't know what I can do! - Jesus! From my observations, Rick seemed to grow closer to his family and was actually becoming happy progressively this season. It started with the family somewhat shattered, Beth was afraid he would leave and Jerry believing they’d be better if they kicked him out. Ricks say that nothing matters and they don’t really love their families, but the origin flashback suggested he did care (but was colored uncertain), the toxin episode proved his definitely cares about Morty, at least, and the initial evil Morty episode showed him remembering being with the now fifteen year old Morty as an infant despite being gone from the family for twenty years before coming back. Rick does care, unlike other Ricks, and he doesn’t like that he cares. He’s “a different kind of Rick”. But... after pulling a family reset by destroying the galactic federation and exiling Jerry, he began rebuilding relationships with his family anew. He admitted during Rickmancing the stone that he has a problem. He admitted during the toxins episode that he was out of control and maybe even hates himself. He begrudgingly went to therapy. He admitted to Jerry that if he didn’t outright sabotage his marriage, he did it no favors. He spent time with each member. He stopped trying to control things. He asked his daughter to science with him. He admitted that if nothing matters, it might be good to take time off. Each episode he seemed to be happier just being. It climaxed with Rick enjoying playing video games with his grandson. Then, in the course of days, by the roll of the cosmic dice, everything fell apart. He tried to take control but it kept spiraling. His daughter became afraid of him and retreated to Jerry, Morty became guarded against him, Jerry came back to his position, somewhat replacing Rick, and everyone made fun of him. He kind of is back to square one where he was in season one. Curiously, he repaired his relationship with the president so he could stay with his family, but it ended with him looking miserable and pissed. He always said nothing matters and he just ended up slapped back into place by caring, which reinforces his original nothing matters mantra. I have actually not watched season four yet. I may binge it soon. But it’s left me wondering where he goes from here now that all his hard work fitting into the family was so capriciously reset. These are my personal observations. My theory may go nowhere. The show does care about continuity but it likes to subvert expectations and refuses to move quickly with story arcs. So who knows. But I’m having fun.

for final of rick's psychological therapy, Morty throughout the series went through Rick's version of the multiverse to be more realistic to his emotional thinking of things, but as he manage to solve the problems, he became more assertive and further more when he decided to help Fart, Arthricia and the Vindicators, this time he really had enough of rick doing lots of nonsensical shenanigans and collateral damage for petty reasons, this time morty was fed up being his doormat When he stole Rick's portal gun he became the most assertive of removing Rick from the picture and don't let him push him around, which Rick suspected he would become another evil renegade Morty and had to kill him, it was easier to blame jerry. Morty seems to become more cruel as he mutated Ethan to get revenge that he ruined his day off and made Summer cry

Fun fact - Mr. Poopybutthole always says proper date of the first episode of next series. Also important thing that happened between seasons - there was VR game, and Morty went full vegan, which kinda a nice easter egg in season 4 (family from now on never eats bacon and eggs again, but they always eat pancakes for breakfast).

What?? Mr Poopybutthole didn't say the date. First off he didn't even say a date, all he said was "a big white santa claus beard" but the first episode of season 4 released on November 9th, over a month and a half away from christmas. The season started over 5x closer to halloween than christmas, and even still a "big white santa claus beard" isn't a "proper date." It was a joke about how long it takes them to get seasons out, hence why he also said "a couple of grandkids."

Rick teleports to the White House, which raises the question of why he took his ship part of the way to the Pentagon in "Get Schwifty". They still have their Obama-a-like President. The President's voice actor was in Season 6 of Dan Harmon's "Community". Secret Service Agent: "Rick and Morty just blew off America". Minecraft is growing on Rick. The President wants to take on Rick. Is that wise? Does he know what happened to the Galactic Government? Would drone-striking Rick's house actually damage it? Rick is apparently autistic. The government knows what Rick gets up to but cuts him slack because he saves the Earth from time to time. Miniature nuclear weapons aren't plausible since a critical mass of fissile material makes an explosion of at least 5 kilotons. The US government has a teleportation device and shrinking pills. Rick and Morty get forcibly expatriated. It's not clear if that's legal. Rick leaves the soldiers his ship. Again, why does he even use it if he has teleportation? It's not clear to Beth whether she is the original Beth or a clone that Rick would have to terminate for going "Blade Runner". Of course, Rick would have edited the memory of that conversation with the original Beth out of the clone Beth's memory.
