As I watched the first four episodes, I enjoyed the show, but thought it was just going to be in the spirit of SuperJail (violence and chaos for the sake of shock value only). But that look that Rick gives King Jellybean, the way he immediately started to be nice to Morty to give him a win (and blasting him away at the end), showed that these characters were going to have depth to them, which they continued building on afterwards. That, plus I LOVE the Meseeks subplot. Probably my favorite ep of Season 1.

Rick and morty does a good job of not requiring to always remember every detail of previous episodes to understand what's happening, but they definitely reward you for having a good memory

Harmon called Roiland's short film a "pornographic vandalization" of Back to the Future. He meant that as a compliment, but it's definitely something to keep in mind if you seek the piece out. Even by R&M standards, it pushes the envelope.

Actually, since we're presuming Rick and Morty have known each other and been going on these adventures for at least an entire semester of Morty's school (4 months) by the beginning of Episode One and judging by the opening title sequence, I'm gonna go ahead and say at least ten times before already.

Yeah, it's definitely heavily implied that what we see of R&M's adventures is only a fraction of what they actually do. Of course, as the series deliberate eschews any kind of traditional continuity, with a few notable exceptions, it kinda doesn't matter. What R&M have/haven't done in the past pretty much depends on the needs of the current episode, and is discarded thereafter.

The meeseeks segment is a commentary on the dangers of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). If you've never heard of the Paperclip Maximiser, I suggest you give it a google. Basic premise is that if you give a simple task to a complex AI, there is danger it will pursue this task with no regard for human values, causing misery and death.

Jerry actually made a huge mistake, the same mistake all three of them made. He gave the Meeseks a task which highly depended on Jerry himself to complete. It wasn't just up to the Meeseks to complete the task but also Jerry which means, if Jerry fails the Meeseks fails. Summer and Beth made the same mistake, but other than Jerry they aren't losers so they didn't fail.
