The alternate reality TV programming, excluding the plot-related, non-random stuff, was all improvised in the recording booth by Justin Roiland (voice of both Rick and Morty). He was also drinking the whole time and got steadily drunker the more he recorded, which is why some of the later stuff had even more chaotic energy than the earlier stuff.

The interdimensional cable bits are basically what you get when you lock a drunk(er than usual) Justin Roiland (creator of the show with Dan Harmon, and voice of Rick, Morty, and many of the non-recurring characters) in a room with a mic and give the resulting recordings to the animators and tell them to do something with them.

That's a quote of the existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre except for the "come watch tv"

@@manuelkant3685 Not exactly, the actual quote is “Every existing thing is born without reason, prolongs itself out of weakness, and dies by chance.” You're right that the "come watch tv" part is the main difference, but it does change the whole quality of the quote. Sartre is an existentialist. He invites individuals to confront the absurdity of existence and create their own meaning. Morty, here, is a nihilist. He accepts the meaninglessness of existence and pragmatically offers a coping mechanism. Sartre's "prolongs itself out of weakness" is not directly in Morty's final quote, but it is present in the rest of the dialog when he explains they bailed on the reality they screwed up. Morty's "Nobody belongs anywhere," is also not directly in Sartre's quote, but the idea of existential alienation is developed in his philosophy. All in all, I'd say this can't be considered a quote from Sartre, but it is written by someone who read and understood Sartre.

Fun fact: in one deleted scene, the writers were going to kill off Actor Jerry. To explain, it’s in the other dimension, and after Jerry confessed everything to the successful Beth (how he hated being famous and how he wishes they never got an abortion) Rick (from the other dimension) killed him. And Rick’s like “Hey sweetie, I saw this creep on the news, I brought you some bird seeds.” Ngl, kinda glad that they changed it lol

Of course nobody really knows. But there is some real science backing the multi verse/dimensions. It's one of the leading theories right now. However, I don't think a lot of physicists are completely comfortable with the idea. But it is what the math predicts.

Well, the whole point with the goggles bit, I think it was moreso trying to say that no one is perfect, and there's never a right answer to the choices we make. Many people imagine having a better life, or made better choices, in some alternate universe, and this episode flips it to also say that even our alternate universe selves are thinking the exact same thing. For most of the episode, Beth and Jerry shown they were unhappy with their lives. But watching their alternate selves, with lives they wish they had, their alternate selves thought the same thing too, in the end. So, even if at times you wish you did some things differently, and if you may feel inadequate at times as well, it helps to admit that no one is perfect, and you don't need to be perfect either. Life is messy, and sometimes chaotic, and the most that you can do is just do the best you can with what you have, and make the most of it.

I know that's a weird concept but mathematically it's true. think of it like this... there are infinite numbers between 1 and 2 (1.1 1.2 1.11 etc). so call that infinite set A. but there are also infinite numbers between 1 and 10 , call that set B. set B clearly contains everything in set A plus more. ergo infinity set B > infinity set A by definition... the infinite set of summer not existing is greater than of her existing so the probably of finding a random dimension where she exists is much lower than where she doesn't. we saw this in that ep with the reality viewing glasses

It's not necessarily that Jerry and Beth were meant to be together. The point is the grass is always greener on the other side of the road. Everyone has regrets, and spying on yourself in another timeline is a way to live vicariously through another you who might not share the same regrets. The point is to own your experiences, because they're what make you you, in so far as "you" are an actual thing that exists.
