Hey, been following for a while now. I didn't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but the two main creators of Rick and Morty have spots in this episode. Justin Roiland, who also does the voices of both Rick & Morty, is depicted as the guy in the ascension festival with the sign that says "thief". Dan Harmon, the other fellow co-creator, has been the voice of Bird Person, but in this episode is also the voice of Ice T.

You seem to think you're woke af but you just love shitting on people who have every right to believe in whatever they want, whether it's backed by evidence or pure faith. Hell, that's the point of religion, to have faith. Faith means believing in something you can't see or know for sure. If there were proof of a higher power, everyone would believe in it and there would be no point in faith. And yes, there are many who use religion as an excuse to do terrible things, but there are others who use it to live peaceful and charitable lives. If it can make some people BETTER people, why have an issue with it and feel the need to tell them their beliefs are 'wrong'? Or what if it helps them through grief to believe that their loved ones are in a peaceful afterlife? If you want to ruin that for them you're just a jerk. It doesn't affect you in that sense. And imagine this, if there is a higher power, who was so extradimensional and powerful that it could create universes and lifeforms, why would it allow itself to be discovered by its own creations, especially if it wanted to stay hidden so that its creations could grow naturally instead of do everything out of a misplaced attempt to please their creator? Just let people do their thing

They wanted to show how at least some religions and/or supernatural beliefs happen. Mistaking correlation with causation. Depending on singular person or few men to interpret the supposed will of God/s, etc. Even a sloppy start, even a silly start can develop into a big religion and once some smart people will accept it's true [most likely indoctrinated into it by their parents], they will use their intellect to rationalise as much of it as possible.

True, essentially people thought the rain dance honored the gods or whatever because one day a guy did a weird dance and it rained. Colombus threatened natives saying "if you don't give me the supplies I need, my God, who is more powerful than yours, will make the moon disappear a week from today". They refused to give the supplies. Then, a week later, an eclipse happened and they immediately gave him everything he wanted. To them it was God, Colombus just new there was going to be an eclipse.

This is very true.. but in my opinion all religions out there in the world are man made. Religious were supposed to help others in the world become better people but all we ever do with it is just cultivate it. I don’t really like the idea when I was little going to church and praying to God (Christianity) because I don’t even know who I’m praying to. One religion which is Buddhism really brings on the Philosophy on what makes a person a good one or what makes others seem so bad. The point is that religion was just made as life lessons so that we can become better and not worse.

Edit: Damn my bad nigga this msg dragged long as fuck and btw this episode good like all ur others 👌 In my opinion this episode told it straight how religions can start, not the exact way they all start obviously but they started from a judgement of how we thought the world worked. Just look at 1500s and its trials like trial by water which was if you float you were rejected by water and therefore guilty, an example of how it was more of opinions and what we thought than how shit worked for real. Its fine to believe in religion nothing wrong with that, its pretty good to be faithful to a belief you think is true and gives you good moral and mindset to be a good person but you cant argue that it didnt start from bad proof and understanding of the world. I also think its fine to take offense or disagree with an episode but its kinda wack to act like its a bad episode just cuz it personally offended u (this aint shit talking btw). Im sure theres alot of jokes done in this show that might be offensive to a certain person but u gotta stay cool with that and know this shit is funny just not to u and thats fine to think its not but dont let ur personal offense judge the episode differently and try to still respect it and understand how it can be funny to some people, religious or not, to an extent
