Honestly, I don't know if Beth is JUST like Rick. She's definitely a lot more sociopathic. Those "toys" of hers were freaking nightmare fuel if you think about it. MIND CONTROL?? A SENTIENT SWITCHBLADE?? If anything, Beth is MORE savage than her father. Rick's at least got that part of him that genuinely cares more than he'd like to admit. Beth is almost entirely self-motivated. She's right on the borderline of narcissism.

Brings some depth to Beth. The crazy bitch discovers at a young age her greatest joy is cutting open living things, she gets herself a job which allows her to do so. The woman consciously chooses to not be evil. She knows she's a fucking monster and channels it. Summer and Morty enjoy killing things, Beth keeps shit alive. Jerry is still Jerry. Varrix are pretty chill about everything they meet killing them, I think they're used to it. They fight, but they're resigned.

Worst episode IMO. This is when the "I am so smart" bullshit started and it ruined Beth's character.

It's actually always been there if you go back. It mostly manifested as her thinking herself to be above Jerry, not even just as a parent but in general as a person. The way she speaks of him and the marriage throughout the series showed this up until I would say that marriage counseling episode for the marriage and the therpy episide for her as a person. She learns that Jerry doesn't actually worship her anymore or even has a high opinion of her as his wife. Meanwhile that therapy episode teaches her that this lie about her family and by extension herself being stable isn't something she can ignore anymore. Of course she's barely any better for having made these realizations, as she prefers to take the Rick Route out and belittle the damage until the very end, but growth is a process. And at least she seems somewhat willing to grow as a mother if not as a better woman/version of herself.
