Watching these old films of NBA games is a wonderful reminder of how great Rick Barry was and also a reminder of how underrated he was. I began watching NBA games back in the late 1950s, and as a shooter and as a passer there just aren't that many players that are as good as Barry was. From the forward position, the two best passers in NBA history are Rick Barry and Larry Bird. Rick Barry never did get his due and that is a shame.

He was a great defensive player too. He led the league in steals at least one year.

Seeing Parish with the Warriors really is a time warp. The Celtics traded the number 1 overall drat pick and another 1st round pick to Golden State in 1980 before the draft, they got Parish and the 3rd pick in return, they used the 3rd pick for McHale....what a trade!!!!

People don't realize but they weren't allowed to do all these crazy carries hezys and double hops because it was against the rules not because they couldn't do it skill wise if curry played at that time with the moves allowed now he'd get vialotions left and right

yup but the bronsexuals no matter what you tell them about violations and or etc will always think lebron would average 60 points a game on 100% shooting because nobody would have been quick enough to catch him once hes going full speed up the court..... Layup city.. right bronsexuals??

Yes. I was 12 years old at the time and went to some of the home playoff games in Detroit. There was an intensity to these series, and the quality of play was much better. Each trip down the court was contested--not just players jacking threes all night.

Bird came along and played much like Barry, only Bird had slightly, better long term stats. Both were fun to watch. Golden State changed management and Parish got a bit disgusted with them when they traded Barry. Robert said he was happy to go to Boston, after that.
