Every time I'm fortunate enough to hear you tell a story about a bait or event or really anything fishing related I feel like I learn something. Your stories have a lot of detail, and it's clear that you've taken in all these experiences very deeply and have put together an understanding of how all the parts work together. Just looking at this drop blade--and I've had one of your trickster spinnerbaits--makes me think about how it combines the two popular styles together. And so on. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

In the north we need to use steel leaders because of the pike and muskies so we need a loop to attach the leader to the bait.

Hi Mr. Clunn. My name is John A. Biron Jr. I've been bass fishing for 44 years. Started competing at age 7 and single handedly won that first tournament on Mansfield Hollow Res. in Connecticut. I have watched you since reading my first Bassmaster Mag. Keep on fishing till you can't. You're the best bass fisherman I've ever seen or none. Keep it up. And the Trickster is a awesome spinnerbait.

used to live over near Cassville. After John sold LS he just disappeared. I've been a big spinnerbait freak since the mid 70's and still live and die by it. I'll need to look at Head Hunter. Didn't know. Thanks for the info!

I like making my spinner bait hooks to swim level. that's a great design. I've learned more from RC's tips than anyone else in my life. THANK YOU for always keeping it innovative RICK!

My first big bass was on a Stanley 3/8 oz Wedge Chartreuse and White Skirted spinnerbait...watched her turn over on it while I was running just under the water. Will not forget that moment and that made me fall in love with spinnerbaits!!! I definitely need to get a few Tricksters to put in the tackle bag.

I throw this bait in 3/4 oz along with Hank Parker's in 3/4 oz size-- Yes I am the epitome of a spinnnerbait fisherman - have been since Rick was throwing the Fleck Weed Wader back in the day -- I got hung when I fished tournaments in the 90's chuckin' willow blades and rippin em' -- caught limits- but when I went to indiana and Colorado configurations Caught way better quality fish more consistently-- The Trickster Is THE perfect blade that marries both those blades - wait till you feel this bait come throught the water - you too will be HOOKED , I promise- Thanks Mr. Clunn for continuing to push innovation in baits.

Thanks, Rick. I know you only have a limited amount of time, but wanted to make the following info available to viewers: In addition to the 3/4 size, there are 2 other sizes of Head Hunter's new Trickster Plus, the 3/8 and 1/2, and I believe each has it's respective-sized long-drop blade...the rear blade. There's also a size 1/2 and the 3/4 in the "old" Luck-E-Strike line.

Rick younger angler I am 26 but I would love to hear your input on the Luck-E-Strike original ringer in the 9’ inch version particularly the Plum color. My dad who is a little older had a little bag of those and I have looked far and wide and I’ve found copy’s but nothing like those originals and I think they key was how slim they was and the rings that displaced the water. I can’t believe they stopped making those. I know they are legendary around the KY lake area where I’m close to and fish. The things I’d do to buy some of those in bulk and I mean bulk😂😂😂

Rick, correct me if I'm wrong but I can remember the teardrop blade back in the 70's. My neighbor that taught me to fish would buy Panther Martin trout lures and take the blades off and use them for his homemade spinnerbaits.
@jessecooper97958 ай бұрын
That's a French blade. Doesn't put out the hard vibration as a long drop blade does

Hey Rick. I've been a trickster fan for at least 10 years. I know you're saying the ones from Lucky strike are not up to your standards but I need to be honest and I bought the new ones and I don't feel like the thump is there. I like the lucky strike ones a lot better. What am I missing about the new ones because I bought about a half dozen them and I'm ready to return them and look for every lucky strike one that I could find.
@rickclunn508 ай бұрын
If you purchased a lucky strike, just don’t buy the ones that have the red beads. Those had a wire issue and I never had any input on the product standard. It was after I left if you stick with that V-8 look for the really old ones , before the company changed hands. The St. John’s special is the Head Hunters Spinnerbait that has a very narrow blade system in the back. It will definitely have less of a thump. Look for the ones that have the extra large willow leaf on the back good luck, and best wishes to a fellow spinner bait user

@@rickclunn50 Can i ask you honestly? if my reel's drag is 18lbs max then why would i ever use line heavier than about 20 lb test since the drag will give out before the line will?
