As for my personal opinion, Rick has misunderstood Ridge's position here. Ridge left them because Brooke kept Thomas thing a secret. Still, Ridge went to prison to protect Rick (he shot Grant Chambers). Of course, after all this, Rick went personally after Ridge, accidentally killing Phoebe, but then, deliberately going after Steffy.

But I still see Rick's point of view. He is like Liam, a waffler. He left Brooke and them, and that is why Rick harbors a hatred againts Ridge.
