Loved Rick Fox! I used to pattern my game after him. People sleep so hard on Reggie Lewis! Quiet assassin! Him and Petro dying in 93 was crazy! Hated when Rick went to the Lakers!

I'm no Celtics fan but growing up in Bmore with no more Bullets I rooted for Doc Mo Cheeks and Philly. I watched Truck (Reggie Lewis) play at Dunbar and then watching Len Bias at Maryland. I and thousands of others became instant Celts fan in '86 when they drafted Lenny. Bro imagine if Len and Reg played with the right cast, MJ and the Bulls have no dynasty guaranteed. Truck was tough bro this makes me sad great memories from Rick...

It's very unfortunate they stopped just when it started getting really interesting at the end there. Fox has that no bullshit, rational realism to him, he'll just say it as it was. Same stories from Shaq or Kobe would be heavily distorted.

In 92' the Celtics had bird, mchale, parish, reggie lewis and a bunch of depth at guard and forward spots and lost to the cavs in 7 games in the 2nd round. That year cleveland, ny and of course the Bulls were stacked. In 93' the celtics had the same team except Xavier mcdaniel as Bird retired - finished 4th in the east and that year the east was maybe the best it ever was
@eddiebowles7903
@eddiebowles7903 6 жыл бұрын
Steven Feinberg, not better than the 80s east since the Celtics were older and injuries had taken their toll on Bird. Plus the Bad boys were done after 91. The fact that Cavs team got that far tells everything. The Bulls were the only real prime threat to come out of the East in 92. NY and Indiana only had 1 true all star apiece.

Marvin Santana, the 95 Magic beat the 95 Bulls in the 2nd round with the "GOAT" there. As well as the Pistons 3 times, the Celtics 2 times, and the Bucks once beating the Bulls. So "no one" = 4 teams in 7 series?
@mikerossville1686
@mikerossville1686 6 жыл бұрын
Eddie Bowles True... You could say '89 was the strongest year for the east. The Bulls were a 7 seed that year with 47 wins, cleveland was even better with Ron Harper, and you still had Detroit, Atlanta, Milwaukee, NY, etc. Whether it's '93 or in the 80's - it's still much better than today.
@eddiebowles7903
@eddiebowles7903 6 жыл бұрын
Steven Feinberg, I agree it is better than today. I just know that the mid to late 80s East was much stronger than the early 90s or any 90s East that is all I am getting at. I think the 90s West gets overlooked but it was stacked. All of the top 90s players outside of Jordan and Ewing were in the west (D. Rob, Hakeem, Drexler, Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Payton, Kemp.) Shaq is an outlier since he split time with Orlando and LA in the 90s. So it's out of the top 11 in the 90s the East had 2.5, and the West had 8.5.

Rick fox was blessed to play with 3 of.the top 10 all-time players in shaq-kobe and Larry legend ... today's NBA fans will never truly understand how great bird was ... Larry was putting up LeBron numbers in a tougher era against true elite big men.. Larry bird and Steph curry is the only 2 men to shoot 90 percent from the line and 50 percent from midrange and 40 from downtown .... Larry bird is the best passing small forward I've ever saw.

So humans can jump higher, run faster, have objectively superior knowledge of nutrition and athletic optimization. We have the internet which allows for unlimited archives of all basketball footage ever taken that can be shared with anyone in the world. The sport is globalized and there are more people that play basketball than any time in history which makes the competition to even enter the NBA exponentially more difficult. And you are trying to tell me Larry Bird played against tougher competition? I may not have been around in the 80s but there's ample video to clearly see its two different sports. Being ambidextrous and having semi-decent handles made you a hall of famer in the 80s. Please. The tenth player on evey bench in the NBA today could be an all star in the any era before the 2000's.
@joshuahaynes7128
@joshuahaynes7128 6 жыл бұрын
Ron Jaradat absolutely Larry bird played against tougher competition anyone who truly knows the game including former players will say the same thing man ... today's NBA is watered down small ball ..... the 80s lakers and celtics was loaded period ... go watch 80s prime magic Johnson seriously watch highlights and then show me a point guard from today's nba who can run the point and pass like magic ?? Then watch Kareem and show me a center even close to kareem from today... I'm not saying there's not players of.today who can't play back then cause there are ofcourse ... guys like lebron-curry-durant-davis-harden-westbrook could play in any era forsure but today's rules have really watered the game down and there's just not any big talented elite centers like there was in the 80s-90s-early 00s .... today's NBA is just smaller .. players back then was fundamentally better they just was .. casual fans seem to confuse athletic ability with fundamentals... ofcourse medicine n stuff is better today I won't debate ya with that man but today's plays all but a handful arent fundamental at all .... the rules of today is why the games are higher scoring and faster pace .. u can't truly body up and play defense these rules benefit the offensive player... 120 points today is about 100-105 back then

He said that the 3rd draft pick that they had was one of the worst ones no it was not Rick Fox that was a good draft pick because that draft pick become future Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups and also if they wanted was Tim Duncan that bad all they could of done is trade Chauncey Billups for a other draft rookie like a big men with size and skills who was similar to Tim Duncan or trade that pick for more future draft picks.

neal6473 he was average in the regular season .It's going to take more than just playing on a championship team for him to make the HOF.Look at Danny Ainge.He's not in the HOF and I think they had similar careers.They both made big shots in the finals and we're just average in the regular season.I think Billups was a solid NBA player.But Hofer ,no.And college careers have no bearing on the NBA How.If it did,people like Wayman Tisdale or Walter Berry would have been elected.

jacksonrob08 And also jacksonrob08 college does make a difference yes it does so what you are saying it's totally wrong that's not just my opinion it is the fact most HOF players aless 90 percent of them had great College careers and Chauncey Billups had all great colleges years that's why he was drafted number 3 overall and also he only had 4 bad years in the NBA that was 1997 to 2001 when he played with Minnesota Timberwolves that 2001 season he became a decent player but still had some things that he need to improve in but it was the conversation he had with Joe Dumars the general manager for the Detroit Pistons three years later help give him confidence and wisdom of what Chauncey Billups can become which was Joe Dumars was right aka MrBigShot Billups and the rest is history and a championship trophy along with multiple All-Star appearance and MVP finals trophy and a great College career enough said Chauncey Billups future Hall of Famer I'm out.
