Rick James was never given the recognition that he deserved sadly that can be said of many if the past phenomenal artists who in their own rights if given there kudos at the time would have also left an indelible mark on Muzik…Rick James followed the others such as Little Richard /James Brown ..Rick raised the bar even further …he was way way way ahead of his times and he paved the way for Prince …these artists are simply unique in their talent…imagine The Temptations are his backing group that alone tells you he was gifted and after Rick then Jim Hendricks..we are fortune to be living at the time when the exploitation in Black Muzik literally went “ Viral” and Rick contributed to that era…he has earned the Right to be inducted in the Hall of Fame for artist who was relevant/edgy./his Muzik is and will always be “ Classic “ and. Thanks but no, thanks. There was a crisis on in 1980- 1990. It was almost impossible to get a job at the time. In 1980 I was 17. I finished highschool, went to fashionschool and finished that. Got admitted to an Academy because of my creative talent. But ended up in healthcare.😢 Sometimes I believe I was born ten years too late.

Loved van Halen back then but the Rick James concert is the best concert I have ever been too in the 80's bar none he got up and played every damn instrument was blown away and the weed was flowing like a river as much as u had the money for. My girlfriend and still wife stood right on floor in front of the band and they had giant joints as the smog machine it was epic performance and a great time (sigh) getting old sucks but it's better than dying!

I had no idea there was an original by shocking blue! I love it. I found out it was recorded on a 2 track recorder. This was recorded in the days of analog (digital didn't exist). Analog is not nearly as forgiving as digital.
