I think Rick Rude is incredibly underappreciated. It is a damn shame that he's career was cut short due to his back injury. He was on the cusp of being a top guy. And he would have fit in perfectly in the Attitude era a few years later.

Ravishing Rick Rude really was the greatest, he was one of the best sellers of his era, and he never balked or said no when he was asked to do jobs to guys he should've gone over on who couldn't lace his boots (Ultimate Warrior, I'm looking in your general direction!)... it's still a travesty to this day that he never got even a short run with the big belt. Fun Fact: Despite his ladies man gimmick and the crazy stories you hear about life on the road with WWF in the 80s, the word from all the boys at the time was that Rick was completely faithful to his wife and never cheated, although he had women pursuing him all the time. Ya gotta respect that.

I think they spent that amount of time recording *_Honky Tonk Man_* songs with the intention of bleeding dry that _Elvis gimmick._ Back in that day, there were several instances of that _Elvis impersonator_ gimmick throughout pop culture, and *WWF* was going to capitalize one way or another, be it face or heel. Towards the end of that zeitgeist, some movie had around 3o Elvis impersonators parachute out of a plane. Since then, that exploitation of the Elvis impersonator gimmick has pretty much been buying the farm slowly along with its aging Boomer fans. So that's the reason. Thank the dying *_Boomer populace._*

For years when they talk about how Ultimate Warrior replaced Brutus Beefcake in the Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam because he was “injured” by Ron Bass I’ve always remembered Ron Bass as a black man and when I saw him here I was shocked that he was white! Maybe if they called him ‘Cowboy’ Ron Bass I’d be more likely to think of him as a white man as you don’t tend to see black cowboys in wrestling and probably not many black real cowboys too. Also I really love dogs (I’ve got 4 German Shepards) but I would never have boots made from dog fur especially from a German Shepard!

Thats something you dont see anymore that made live shows look happening in the 80s . Flash bulbs EVERYWERE in the arena ! WWF even went so far to have trusses above the ring doing the flash bulb effects ! Especially when you sat through 5 hours of tv squash matches where Jim Powers etc.. wrestled 9 times in one night against mid to main event guys for Superstar saturday morning TV tapings for the next 5 months .
