Outside of certain implications the s3 made like why Rick left his reality in the first place, the stuff that's actually important in that scene was all true, especially the conversation the two had previously.

I can only assume the season 3 ep 1 memory of Diane and Beth being blown up wasn't entirely fake, and Rick must have just embellished a detail or two to fake the code to hack the brainalyzer.

But he’s the Rickest Rick because he was from a universe she survives so another Rick came and killed them both. So he comes to live with a Beth while looking for the one who killed them, and Evil Morty wants to go to where he never existed to see what Rick is hiding from.

In my interpretation Rick wants to save him because birdperson was right, like, if life isnt meaningful then why live? If Rick wants to live and have adventures he has to care for something, otherwise he wouldnt be having adventures and feeling fulfilled when doing it. Its even because of this that he started to like his family to the point to put himself in danger for them. I can assure you that S1 Rick would just not give a shit about Beth being taken prisioner, probably just going to another dimension where this never happened. But right now rick is getting to the point of having multiple measures to protect the family he has now. Right now, its not even about caring for the "original versions" of his family, but for the ones where he built up a good relationship.
