Pretty harsh to say George Bryan isn't a "real" youtuber... been grinding at this and growing the youtube golf as much as anyone - I'd assume BryanBros is at least top ten worldwide for golf channels/creators. At least from an influence perspective. The fact that he's pretty clearly the best golfer out of creators doesn't make him less of a creator in my opinion.

Shoutout to Guy for knowing the difference between a scratch golfer and a proper professional. As a really good golfer compared to almost all players and currently pursuing the pro side, the difference in playing normally and trying to play/qualify for opens is immense. The 77 by Grant or the 76 by Dan on a full length, championship style course, on a championship setup course is better than a lot of people realize. I myself played in the standard P-Qualifier and went out and shot a 73 in the practice round in "normal" conditions at TPC Myrtle without ever seeing the course. This would beat nearly every person that sees this video in their first time playing the course. I followed that with a round of 84 in the actual pre-qualifier despite not playing that much worse. The small changes in the course setup, the preparation, and everything around a qualifier like this is a lot bigger than people realize. Even guys who would shoot under par regularly at their home courses would shoot over 80 a majority of the time in these qualifiers despite playing to their standard. All in all, the home course scratch golfer and the high-level KZbin golfers versus the legitimate career tour pros is a whole lot bigger than most realize.

Well, to be fair, EVERY guy who's not on tours problem is between the ears. You'd be amazed how many guys have PGA level games when there's no pressure. I'd dare say it might be over 10x the number of guys on Tour currently. But soooo many can't handle the pressure. I don't think George though is that far off. He just needs a good couple of days and a switch will flip. P.s. I see this in myself all the time haha. I'm not a great golfer, great round is high 70s, terrible is low 90s. But still, anytime I have to play though a group of 4 dudes, I almost always shank it into the woods xD can't handle even a few eyeballs watching me lol don't know how the pros do it.
@Lovetheducks

@@Drillbitayler I played thru college even on hooters tour for a year. I can say from experience not everyone that doesn’t make it is because of their mental games it’s always a variety of things but usually it’s putting and or the short game. I’m as mentally tough as they come I couldn’t make it because I couldn’t hit a reliable draw and my putting was streaky to be nice. I honestly believe as Wes started making a name it sort of put George on the back burner and he sort of took a supporting role for Wesley instead making a name of his own. Ultimately don’t matter because Bryan bros one of the best channels on KZbin he’s a great guy and seems genuinely happy with his life as he should and that’s all that matters.

It’s not really fair to say that George isn’t a real youtuber. He’s been doing KZbin videos for 10 years going back to the truck shot days. Yes he’s a tremendous golfer, but that shouldn’t take away from anything that he’s achieved on youtube.

he never said George "isn't a real youtuber". He literally said George is "an amazing golfer who has a KZbin channel". If anything one could compare the Bryan Bros channel more directly to Bryson DeChambeau's channel, both channels are made by people who were firstly great golfers that chose to make videos for KZbin.

I watch more youtube golf than pro golf for a very simple reason. Its the delivery of the content and its how much more personable it is. Youre in the cart with the players, youre hearing their thoughts, not only seeing but hearing their reactions to their shots, youre riding the emotions with them… if pro golf were delivered the same, Id watch more of it. Pro golf is too sterile and thats why youtube golf is so good to me. I honestly got a little bored with the Myrtle beach post because it didnt have those aspects as much as a normal youtube video.

I was happy with my 102 lol I'm a -12 handicap so going from your normal style course to a pro-am that has been extra pampered is unbelievably difficult. Not that FP or those guys couldn't have shot better but they didn't and it just shows how difficult it really is to enter the pro tour...you have to be able to match your score at a standard course within a couple of strokes at a pro manicured course and from the tips.

Whether it's the PGA or KZbin the fans still see golf as a competitive sport. So the "who is better" question definitely still matters. That's why the KZbin match videos between content creators are so highly watched. Not only do we get to see the creators that we enjoy, but we get to see the competitive aspect as well. I think it definitely matters to fans - and to be honest, I think it matters even MORE to the creators as competitors whether it be the score or the production itself. We're still going to watch everyone's channel no matter who wins, but that doesn't mean that we don't want to see who is better on that day, at that specific course, etc.

A player that has the game and a good caddie will do much better than 99% trying to manage all the emotions and course management alone. The caddie will help manage the players emotions and course management by knowing where to hit the ball on an approach and the best position on the green and then being able to put that information to the player. It was great still watching these guys trying to do their best with the tools they had on a hard course.

Very interesting to hear these points! As a big fan of KZbin Golf, I found the whole thing fascinating! Peter Finch is definitely good enough to have won the Q and also to place fairly high in the tournament itself. His mental game and swing have gone to another level. Nice to hear some appreciation for him. Grant also has the game but he is accustomed to talking through every shot to a KZbin audience on camera as opposed to grinding in tournament conditions. Having his best friend as caddy might not be the move next time. He should get a local caddy veteran who knows the course and hit it where the caddy tells him and trust his own gut on club selection and short game. My two cents ! Nice to see Micah take full ownership of his mental errors in his follow up vid and get more serious about his pre-shot routine. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

GB4 played D1 SEC golf. He is both a genuine KZbinr, decent golfer and a great human being. He earned that call up. Matt Atkins is indeed a KFT winner, played D1 SEC golf and is (I think) South Carolina resident. He's a regular with Wesley on BBG TV. FP played D3 golf. I think it showed. Pete did really well and they missed a trick not inviting Rick. Hope they address that next year b'c as a viewer it worked for me. The two best golfers on the day went through.

I would say most ppl watch YT golfers mainly for entertainment and the banter between players rather than wanting to see top tier golf being played, however if they’re entertaining and also a strong golfer, it’s a bonus ie Jimmy Bullard. Fun to watch and a great player, then there’s yourself, enjoyable to watch and a good player.

The greens, and in particular some of the pin placements were a level or two harder than most of the content creators typically play. To me that was what accounted for the high scores.

I watched that, and some of the greens and flag positions were ridiculous. There was one flag on a ridge, if you touched the ball it ran past 15 yards, 10 yards off the green. I am a 13 handicapper, floating between 11 and 14, for 3 years now. I think anywhere under 90 would be a great score for me, with those tree lines, distances, and super fast greens (12 on the stimp?)

I was rooting for FP to break 80 and not finish last - he shot 81 and beat two of the others, and was a couple shots off Grant and Kwon who I consider much better "actual" golfers. He beat Micah by 5! FP has good mental game. That had to be really hard going 250 off the tee every hole and trying to keep up!

In one of the videos from Play Golf Myrtle Beach, they mentioned the PGA Tour had certain criteria even for the KZbinrs. They were supposed to have a scratch or a plus handicap index to be eligible to play. Does Cole Lantz and FP have plus index's? I'd assume so, just saying there were some stipulations on who was even eligible to be invited. I don't think we're going to see Coldcuts, Bob, etc playing in this tournament. I think LIV should do something similar with all creators. So what if they shoot well over par at the LIV event, they'd play 3 rounds and get more publicity. I hope next year they invite the public/sell tickets. Having played TPC Myrtle Beach many times, I'd love to see the top creators out there playing.

Having a discussion on what someone would do based on handicap vs micah morris is wild. The same way you can't compare a casual round vs a round with cameras. There is a huge difference between someone who maintains a 0-2 handicap playing from 7000 yards regularly vs someone who plays 6000 yards while maintaining a 0-2 handicap.

I think next year they should do this again. But, they should take 16 Content Creators and they face off with the top 6 moving onto the actual qualifier. 10 Korn Ferry Tour Pros and 6 Content Creators so if one creator does win, its 1000 percent earned. And, adds a electric first round of all Content Creators. Can even do the Top 20-30 content creators and top 6 make it, make it rly interesting.

Yes, the content creator would theoretically get dusted in the Myrtle Beach tour event, but the question isn't "Does it matter" or "Wouldn't that be bad?" I think the fans want to see their boys go out and compete with the pros, and the other casual fans would be interested to see how a "normal/good" golfer would do in a PGA event. Even if they shoot 85-85 and miss the cut, we all want to see that unfold on the actual PGA tour.

A scratch golfer shoots 72 on a easy course once in five rounds. If you shoot 68 at the local Pete Dye course in my town then you are a +6 or +7. Micah needed to leave his driver in the hotel room

Hi guys, love Rick’s channel and some of the content is unrivalled - really pushing the envelope. Avid listener of the pod. One comment is that I think at times Guy can be quite negative and a bit chirpy. I remember when Pete came on the pod a year or so ago and Guy was quite negative to Pete. Rick has pushed the envelope and industry leading, I just think Guy needs to wind it in a bit. Love the pod, love the channel - just grates a bit. Especially when talking down other KZbinrs. It’s meant to be a community and I’m not sure Guy should talk down about other channels/creators

As many others have said, hard-disagree with Guy on his characterization of George...yes he made a PGA tour cut, but it's the only professional round he's played since 2018. He is clearly grinding YT, not the tour. I do agree that I think it would have been a better event if it was all creators and no pro's.

I know a lad who plays on the tour you talk of he used to be a member at my club as a junior amazing player and can score under pressure. The top county players are great but playing under that kind of pressure to qualify for your events is their World Cup final very few will deliver the 5 under on the day. I rarely play to my 5 handicap in my club champs let alone that level

I personally like that they went 8 creator 8 pros because if a youtuber wins you know its because they are actually good and can look decent during a PGA event but if you put 16 creators its way more open to criticism especially if they shoot a bad score at the event itself after but now you can say hey they might have a bad event but they did beat other pros to get there. Matt Atkins is a really good golfer so even tying him to me brings legitimacy to it this qualifier instead of just looking like a pure marketing thing.

I like they included pros in the event. Having all YTBRs would seem unfair that why do these YT guys get a chance. With a half pro field it legitimizes the placement if a YTBR were to win. George clearly was in a place to win, hits a very good shot on 18 and it rolls out more than anyone expected
