Joey left his infinite mark on 'modern' drumming. A short, tiny, soft spoken guy when you meet him, but a crazed powerhouse behind the kit! And how sick is the fact that he wanted to be a guitar player in this band he was starting with his buddy Paul Gray? Lucky for us that didn't work out, so Joey & Paul regrouped and started a new group, named it 'Slipknot' and made it work this time. These two probably started a new band, wherever they are (or might be). But if you hear me, guys-thank you for Slipknot & the other kinds of music you gave us over the years, and thank you even more for the motivation, inspiration and the proof that dreams do come true sometimes... 🤘

One thing I've always loved about Slipknot is the combination of a "raw" quality (kegs and percussion and chugging riffs) and yet there is still technicality and flare there if you really pay attention. The parts are delightfully "rusty" on purpose but goddamn is it ever driving you forward.

You only need to listen to one or two songs by Stone Sour to realise that Corey's talent far surpasses the "generic metalhead" label people are always slapping on him. I remember as a 12 or 13 year old being scared at first when I heard this, then curious and eventually mesmerised. Theres a level of depth and premeditated coherency in their songs that most bands just can't achieve, but its also not making any false promises about being accessible. Its like "this is happening to your ears now whether you like it or not" and I always loved that about slipknot Its like all their songs are filled to bursting with these tiny moments of excellent musicianship (or production) that go over the average listeners head...

yeah, people need to give each member of the band more credit. Especially what Sid adds to the sound is underrated. Not even adding some cool stuff to the riff here in Duality, he adds some to the drums in Psychosocial I never realized until I saw him infront of me doing it live.

@@slipknot95maggot this "dude" digs pretty much all of the music I've went through my entire life ^^ (although there are some holes, which might be due to him being a producer... a species with a natural tendency towards music involving production skills) my taste convergence towards jazz led me to this channel years ago. From a simple songwriting perspective, one more thing that makes this song great is how the chorus vocal does that high fifth harmonizing with the guitar doing its dark phrygian riffing. As if the vocal singing F# with the guitar on low B makes a power chord. It’s an explosive moment after that prechorus buildup.

People don’t give Craig enough credit in the band. He was one of longest serving members and helps record and mix the band. He also uses samples, pads,MIDI,keyboards and synths to add to the music and atmosphere.

Too many bands with a dj overuse the turntables to the point of being obnoxious. The passing observer might wonder what Sid was adding because he was for the most part,so subtle. Yet if you take his parts away you'd gut the slipknot sound.

Its so much easier to get behind a video of someone who so clearly just loves music of all kind. He sees music so much deeper than probably 98% of us which is so cool. Ive been a slipknot fan since self titled came out and been to 6 of their shows but I've never myself even seen the actual complexity to their songs broken down like this before. For me the most eye opening was how involved with everything Sid is.
