You know that'd be good. Mike seems like such a kind and genuine guy. Not to mention he was often the guy coming up with the most musically impressive aspects of LP's music... he's probably their strongest songwriter and arranger. That guy can tell you more about records like Hybrid Theory and Meteora than arguably anyone else in the band. I think he'd be happy to indulge in that and would have plenty to say about the creative choices behind the music.

All the metal heads used to call LP commercial, say they're just punks. We had to defend them from all the "good music snobs" so much. And now.. now everyone get's them. 20 years later and they are still at the top. This is their music. The kind of stuff that never ages. Feels so good to actually see someone who actually understands music giving them what they are worth. Thank you kindly, good sir.

Oh man THIS album… Simply put…pure perfection. Every song played a part in elevating this album to the status of “Masterpiece”. To pick Crawling as “the best,” in my opinion diminishes how truly incredible Hybrid Theory is as a whole. Papercut, One Step Closer, With You, Points of Authority, Runaway, By Myself, In The End, A Place for My Head, Forgotten. Pushing Me Away. They all deserve just as much recognition as Crawling (which in my opinion) was just as incredible as the rest. Each song was masterfully placed on the album to flow into the next, including the last song (Pushing Me Away) which (when put on repeat) flowed right into the first song (Papercut). I could put that album on repeat and listen to it for weeks at a time - and I did. I can’t say enough about Hybrid Theory. That album saved me.

"Leave out all the Rest" from Minutes to Midnight, will be played at my memorial service when I die. (I am not leaving my loved ones to plan my funeral) "Waiting for the End" was released after my husband died..."Waiting for the end to come Wishing I had strength to stand This is not what I had planned It's out of my control" was very real when I was drowning in grief. "And I don't even know what kind of things I've said My mouth kept moving, and my mind went dead So, I'm picking up the pieces now where to begin The hardest part of ending is starting again" was also very true for me. I promised my husband I would live, but there were months of people worrying I was going to die from my broken heart. I had to move... Everywhere I went, people asked me where the "big guy" was? It was so hard to say he died. My husband was 7" 4.5" tall when he died (brain tumor) I am just under 5 feet tall . I couch surfed for a little over a year before I decided to leave TX. My boss moved me to VA to be closer to family. I kept our house in Texas until my husband's best friend offered me way over market value for it. I was so blessed to have wonderful people, who loved my husband, looking out for me. It is completely surreal when I still get called to plan funerals for his MC Brothers. I am a linguist, not a funeral director. But I am also so blessed because I grateful for the time we had.

Rick, please for the love of God, do the breakdown of Easier to run. In my opinion it is the most underrated song in their catalog (even among hardcore fans), sitting in between massive hits like a well hidden diamond, also with a criminally small amount of live renditions. No one just knows the sheer power and beauty of this song, distracted by Numb etc. All the intricasies in the songwriting and heartbreaking lyrics are going over deaf ears. I, for one, strongly believe that this gem should've been the lead single of Meteora together with Breaking the habit (of course i know nothing about promotion, coupling these songs together😊)

For me it’s given up or a place for my head. Given up probably has the strongest message of what Chester felt. It has the best scream ever. It reminds me of Nirvana’s You know You’re right if you look at the messages of the songs. The instrumental is amazing too. A place for my head is another rebellious song that I think it’s the heaviest nu metal track ever. Chester’s vocals, guitars, Mike’s epic rapping. That song sums up the nu metal sound of Linkin Park IMO

I’m under 18 so I don’t remember half of their songs coming out. Despite this, I grew up always listening to them, still one of my all time favourite bands, same with 21 pilots. They still hold dear places in my heart, even with my music taste slightly changing (I now listen to anime intros and Japanese music). Crawling is still in my top five songs and wouldn’t realistically be where I am today without listening to them. I remember the day I found out about Chester’s death, my parents and my sister tried so hard to keep it from me, being a young emotional child. I was in my grandparents house listening to the charts, the announcer of it said “Now we are playing some LINKIN PARK in memory of the recent passing of Chester Bennington.” I refused to believe it, then I cried.

You get everything on it. There's Mike's rapping on the verses, Chester's power vocals on the chorus aaand a big bridge with him fully screaming (and a catchy intro riff, too). Thank you for bringing aesthetics and cognitive/neurological aspects of music and musicology to a wider audience. For several months I have watched your videos, learning more and recovering delights spanning the cosmos of music in time and space. Primarily a writer, with a longtime background in journalism, I have played a few tidbits of guitar professionally and, unfortunately, had early piano and ear training truncated when I was very young. Your teaching and pedagogy have reenergized in love of and interest in music. Much of the novel writing I am completing is informed by poetic elements but also musical ideas going back to my interest in composing and arranging, which started my hearing arrangements by old jazz cats like Buster Harding, Jimmy Bond, and others. (In fact, in Chicago on WBEZ, the famous jazz station with Dick Buckley, I was interviewed when I was an adolescent.) On the Italian side of my family, my Aunt Corrine was a piano prodigy, and my father and uncle both played the jazz circuit in Shy Town in the late fifties, both students of Joe Siegel when he was teaching at, I believe, the Blackstone Hotel downtown. Imbibing jazz as a baby certainly gave me an "ear" early on, though I never developed it to the redoubtable levels of your son, Dylan. Appreciate your continuing civilized discourse, so needed in times when civilized discourse is in shorter supply.

One of the beautiful things about LP is the simplicity of the melodies. That makes for great anthems sing-a-longs. It took me ages to work out why so many of their songs have that anthem grandeur, then I saw them live. It's the kindergarten simplicity of the melodies and the slow pacing, leaving so much room for the massive tones and Chester's drawn out vocals, with Mike's rapping a perfect counterpoint.
