I met Derek Trucks in Little Rock, AR at Sticky Fingers before his show in 2003. It was raining slightly and as we parked our car Derek passed by in the headlights so I shouted his name and he talked to us, in the rain! I asked if he would sign my guitar and he said sure. Opening my guitar case, I remembered I didn’t have a pen. He then invited me to knock on his tour bus after the show and would sign it then. He was unbelievable. Signed my guitar afterwards and was extremely gracious. A truly gifted musician and a nice guy. I 🎸🇺🇸

Some of the greatest musicians realize that they were given an opening and they were blessed to walk through it….and they also understand that they are people just like all of us and that they can spread some joy by spending a minute to talk…..they know they are not above that and they don’t have a false sense or delusion of grandeur. Thats Derek and others like him and in return they are greatly appreciated and valued.

Well after reading the few comments I have to agree with most, that, Susan and Derek give a lot of people a platform to express themselves and they are not greedy. I imagine they spend a large portion of their earnings on salaries ,transportation, and staging that they could probably do without, but I think they're very unselfish and true to the art. Also, I think Susan is very encouraging and patient and nurturing towards a lot of artists. It comes through on stage. I remember the first time I saw her do an Allman Brothers song on stage. I believe, it was at Wanee. A song I had been singing since I was a teenager off of Enlightened Rogues and I knew there was a changing of the guard when I looked into Greg's eyes. Greg passed later that year and it was almost like God turned his attention towards Tedeschi Trucks. Anyway, I think Derek and Susan, as well as, other members of the band have beautiful spirits and the sky is the limit or maybe I should say the heavens.
