Rick, your tips are so great. Thanks for sharing all that. I’m watching that on the other side of the globe and I’m grateful I can learn from your insights.

Thanks for the heads up on the Sabian pad. I was considering it recently, but the modified Tama looks like a good choice instead!

I once owned a Tama True Touch 10" pad. I ended up returning it because i thought it was much too heavy and felt that it left a very dense footprint, it was like the Sasquatch of practice pads to me-- now i regret returning it because I'd like to try the modification that Rick is going to show soon; also was wondering Rick how you felt about the fabric covered rubber type practice pads like prologix or a tapspace tap-off type pad, thanks again Rick for another informative video.

Hi Bill I don't care for any type of rubber pads although the Ahead Pad I show in the video is not too bad. Same goes for the cloth covered rubber pads.

Hi Rick, do you have any thoughts regarding Prologix Pads? Those also can come with a rim, I heard that the padmaterial itself is great, but the rims don´t last. Do you have any experience with those?
@rickdior8 ай бұрын
Hi Those pads don't hold up so I don't recommend them. I only do videos on products I use and like and I like these 2 pads better than most things out there. The Tama is better after modification as you will see in the next video. The rim on that pad is terrific.

I’ve been using these pads for a long time and they have held up great! I don’t do tons of rim work tho so I can’t speak to that, but the pad itself is really high quality! The rims are a hard rubber so they don’t tear up your sticks.

Hi Rick, you wouldn’t happen to know the exact millimeters of those rubber cap covers? Really enjoy your videos.
@rickdior8 ай бұрын
hi I am guessing 5 or 6mm

The Ludwig pad looks like it might be possible to create a homemade version of it. What's underneath the head?
@rickdior8 ай бұрын
A piece of press wood and a piece of thin foam. The magic is in the head which is very thin and unfortunately not produced anymore.

@@rickdioris it thinner than the diplomat m5?
@rickdior8 ай бұрын
Not sure but it's very thin. It was also used for the old Ludwig Tunable Tambourines.

I’ve used Cameron’s hard rubber for years. Not ideal but better than a hard surface.

How is the rebound of tama true touch? Does it feel realistic?

After you do a mod like I will do in the next video it feels great.

Have you tried the Reflexx (Zildjian) pad?
@rickdior8 ай бұрын
Yes, and I did not care for it. I prefer pads with real heads. In another video coming soon, I modify the Tama pad and change it to a real head which really improved it. The Ahead pad in this video is the best rubber pad I have used and is great for quiet practice but I don't see myself using it regularly.
