It's unclear why Katt was upset by this. As far as I can tell, he only said he auditioned for a role for which he obviously wasn't selected. When he said they switched roles, he implied that Katt was the better choice, and clearly production agreed. Katt was not mentioned negatively by him at all. There are two truths: Rickey's and Katt's. The interview did not throw any shade at anyone. Comedians have their own audiences. Katt, Rickey, Bernie, Steve, all have different followings. Chill out.

They’re asked questions based on what the guest brings up prior to. Interviews are setup and they talk prior so they know what not to ask about. Rickey wasn’t disrespectful but insinuating someone was supposed to play a role they didn’t apply for and y’all switched right during filming is like you’re reacting for attention. Rickey may have just wanted the role very bad and even if considered for the role just say you wanted it and not speak for others. Wording is everything and Katt doesn’t want people thinking those are the type of roles he auditioning for on a self respect level because the role was a crackhead.

Katt is still my 2nd favorite active comedian behind only Chappelle. Those are the only 2 big time comedians I pay to see live. But after listening to this and seeing Cube clarify that they both auditioned for Money Mike, Rickey didnt deserve that response from Katt... this was such an understandable misunderstanding but people are literally addicted to toxic exchanges that its to the point that many of us are throwing so much extras on it all out of reflex or relapse.

Ricky said in that same interview that Katt was perfect for that roll and that he did a phenomenal job as Money Mike... He didn't deserve that response, especially considering its well known Ricky is still grieving the loss of his son.

So, where's the lie? I've watched this, the Katt clip and Rickey's response. Rickey read for the role first, but Katt did better and Katt got the role. That's actually a compliment to Katt. Rickey was truthful and so was Katt to a certain degree. To me Katt is the one adding to the story. Rickey literally talked about this for less than a minute.
