Rickie Fowler shoots 10-under 60 | Round 3 | Travelers | 2023

In the third round of the 2023 Travelers Championship, Rickie Fowler fired a career-low, 10-under 60 to get to 15-under through 54 holes. He trails by six shots after Saturday.

This week, the PGA TOUR heads to Cromwell, Connecticut, for the Travelers Championship. This will be another Designated event, meaning the field is full of the world’s best players yet again. As it stands, 37 of the top 50 golfers in the world will be teeing it up this week. Leading the favorites is world No.1 Scottie Scheffler. He posted yet another top-five finish at the U.S. Open last week, where he finished in solo third. Scheffler is yet to finish worse than T12 in any TOUR event since October. FedExCup leader Jon Rahm will also be in the field this week. He finished T10 at the U.S. Open with a closing 65 and has won four events, including the Masters, this year. Rory McIlroy will also be optimistic entering the week. Starting at the PGA Championship, McIlroy has recorded four consecutive top-five finishes. Also, McIlroy is no stranger to TPC River Highlands, where he’s finished inside the top-20 in each of his four trips. Defending champion Xander Schauffele will also be returning to Connecticut. He’s only finished outside the top 20 once in his last nine events, including three top-five finishes, and he played well for a T10 finish at the U.S. Open. Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay and Rickie Fowler will also be contending for a win in Connecticut this week.

Golf was once said to be a test between you and the course, which is what Ricky seems to be doing lately, enjoy the moment with the course and the good scores will follow. The final round should be played in the same mindset, not worrying about devising a plan to beat the other players. Just my opinion.

When Ricky was in the Murrieta, CA high school, he shot several competitive rounds in the very low 60s. He was the number one Amateur in the world for 36 weeks when he was a teenager. We all thought he would light up the PGA Tour right away but it seems that he's waited till now to really show his talents. I hope he stays on top for a long time.

He has talent that he didn't even realize how great it was. How many top 5 or top 10 in majors he had achieved? Many. But he didn't break through as he was too tight and too tense in the last round! Mental issue. Work on it, overcome it, enjoy the game rather than worrying about winning or losing. Play your natural best and let Golf God decides the rest.
