Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZbin channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

I went to Costco on Saturday to pickup a $20 pack of 4 KS golf gloves (they feel like butter) and walked out with a KS1 putter and the 3 wedge set. Played McDowell Ranch in Scottsdale on Sunday. Pros: my putting and chipping were pretty good. Cons: I looked like a spokesman for Kirkland. I don't see a scratch player buying off the rack clubs from Costco but this 24hc weekend warrior is impressed with the lineup so far.

You do you. Never understood the dissing of starting golfers or weekend players and their equipment. Not everyone wants to drop $1,500+ on all new equipment. I picked up these wedges recently myself as I was missing a LW and GW in my starter set. They're great. And now around Xmas 24pc golf balls are $23! and gloves are $22 and they're fantastic.

@@richardnavratil9661 Brother, I've been playing for almost 45 years. Kirkland's golf equipment is very good equipment period, not just good for the money. The value is insane on these wedges. I haven't pulled the trigger on buying them yet, but I think I'm going to today. I was in my Costco 2 days ago and they were on sale for $120 for the set of 3. You can't beat that value. Balls are good too & were on sale as well for $24 and the gloves seem to wear quite well and again, the value is insane. I have no embarrassment having Kirkland equipment in my bag. Golf equipment snobbery is for fools with more money than sense.

After doing a little bit of research, under the USGA conforming, these wedges were made from a company called Southern California Design Company in Carlsbad, California. Carlsbad is also where Callaway are based. Costco also has a deal with Callaway, as seen with the Callaway Edge set. That also makes sense why the putter could potential be an Odyssey made putter. Highly likely that these are a callaway set of wedges just with Kirkland Signature branding.

"The wedge shares a similar creative story to the putter in that Costco buyers approached a well-respected design firm, in this case, the Southern California Design company, to develop the wedges and work with a manufacturer for production. This isn’t SCD Co’s first time working in golf either-it had a hand in the (visual) creation of the Cobra AMP Cell irons, and another company Indi Golf and the StingRay wedges."

My guess is Callaway make them, this is for three reasons. 1. Callaway seem to have a deal to sell box sets in Costco. 2. Odyssey are owned by Callaway and the putter does look as if it could be an Odyssey. 3. The shape looks like the old Mac Daddy range. It could be product recycling under a different brand. Would be interesting to see how the ball correlates with an old Callaway premium ball. Maybe you should get that ball cutter going to check?

For those who don't have $150 & up to spend on a Vokey (Titleist) or RTX (Cleveland). We've offered Wilson Harmonized wedges for between $35-$50 U.S.. they're gorgeous, more than functional. For that price they are flat out exceptional. Unless you're a single hndcp or better player, I doubt you will notice any difference in performance or feel. For around 1/3 of the price of more premium brand names. I hope that's helpful for someone. Thx Rick!!! Love your YT vids. Still waiting to win one of your giveaways. @@johnyi1994 I've been swinging them in the simulator at home, plan on hitting the course today and tomorrow now that the temps have warmed up. They feel very solid and easy to swing. I have a Calloway 58 degree, and the face is not milled like these. These give quite a bit more back spin than the Calloway, and I paid as much for that single club as this whole set of three.

I just saw these wedges at my Costco in Calgary, AB, Canada. They are $174.99. I am seriously considering buying them as I was already thinking about replacing my current wedges. Update: After a day of thinking it over, I went back and bought them today. I'd go to the driving range and test them out, but it snowed here today... Update: Well, the weather is cooperating so I went to the range today. These new wedges work just fine. They felt a little heavier than my current, Nike wedges and maybe go a few yards further. I am happy with my purchase. These clubs will be going into my bag for this season.

I tried some Callaway Jaws at a demo day and loved them. Bought the Kirklands about 2 weeks later, after watching this, thinking of Costco's generous return policy. Have played two rounds and they are staying in my bag! Strike feels similar to the Callaways, although I only hit those off the mat, so maybe apples and oranges. Every good shot I hit with them stuck nicely. Unfortunately I still hit a lot of bad shots. They can't fix that.

I heard these wedges have a 24k solid gold center and are made in japan with steel imported from Germany, and they are 10x forged to the maximum limit. Miura offered to buy their blueprint but Costco denied the offer.

I’m looking to replace my 50, 54, and 56 Vokeys. If they are anything like their Kirkland balls I am picking these.up. Sure I can afford Vokey again but I hit a 52 at the range and it was nice. I feel like everyone has missed the detailing on the hosel. I have only seen stamped line detailing around the hosels of 2 brands, Callaway and Titleist. Callaway lines are stamped parallel to the hosel, while Titleist stamps theirs diagonally to the hosel. These Kirkland wedges have the same diagonal lines stamped around the hosel as Titleist/Vokey wedges. Seems like a "clue" to me. Almost a "calling card". Likely made by Titleist using similar technology to their branded wedges, made with less expensive materials.

Rick, you were almost right about the putter. It was manufactured by some type of big Chinese corporation. They also work with many other name brands to produce mainly putters, so there is a good chance that odyssey might also work with them. The wedges on the other hand were made by Southern California Design Company who also made the Cobra amp cell irons. This company has also made wedges for some other lesser-known golf companies. It seems that Kirkland is willing to spend a lot of money to make the best version of their clubs as they can! This is exciting because it shows that they care. We're all excited to see what they bring out next! Thank you to GolfWRX for supplying this information.

I am willing to try the set and will be on my way to Costco after posting this. If I liked it, I would play them (do not care much about brand as long as I can hit them well). I could just spray a thin layer of paint or fashionably stamp over the logo, if I do not want it shown. If I do not like the set, Costco has a very generous return policy. UPDATE: Just got the set, unboxed it and compare them to my PXG wedges, the lies seem to match with my PXG wedges, which are 3-degree flat (I might be dead wrong). They feel nice like those brand name wedges, not the cheap ones. Can’t wait to try them at the course.

I bought these wedges back in November-ish I think. I took them back today because while they feel good, look good and perform well....the quality is not as good. I never hit my wedges out of rocks or anything like that here in the desert in Vegas and the 60 degree wedge is looking terrible. It's like the chrome finish is peeling off, similar to what you'd see if you had a gold coin piece of chocolate candy and you peel the wrapper off. Needless to say I took them back today and bought myself different wedges at my local shop. If you dont care about quality of the wedge then these wedges are for you, if you DO care, don't say I didn't warn you.
