Agreed, golf psychologist on the pod??
@AnotherLostBall2 жыл бұрын
But that’s the problem isn’t it? Many of us could play much better if we had the right mindset …. And if we knew how to achieve this mental state we’d be millionaire sports psychologists! When I stand on the tee my main thought is “don’t make a complete di*k of yourself in front of people”. I suspect this isn’t helpful! 😂 If I had Rick’s ability I’d like to think I’d be supremely confident but it doesn’t work that way does it.
@buffaloben15golf882 жыл бұрын
And that’s what we all have to remember. Sometimes getting in our own heads is what kills us. I just played two rounds this weekend, the first an 84, the next a 79. Both rounds I was +7 through 13. The first round I just got ahead of myself, though about the next holes instead of the one I was on, and I finished like crap. Pissed away a great score on a tough track. The next round, not as tough of a course, granted, I knew that I was in the exact same place with 5 to go. All I told myself was. This is your time. That was then. This is now. It worked great.

Best thing I learned from Grant Horvat’s channel is the power of positive thinking. He got upset that he missed his eagle putt by a few inches, but came back with “a nice little tap in birdie on the last hole, let’s see if we can do it again!” And stayed cool and confident the whole time.

Rick, I'd be interested to see how next season of break 75 would play out if you brought on a sports psychologist. You've clearly got the physical talent to play well. To me so much of what affects your game is between your ears. I get the every day golfer can't bring on a psychologist, but perhaps some of the techniques you work through could help a lot of your viewers navigate a golf course themselves.

It would be an interesting video as well to see the process of that. Similar to when Rick played with the tour caddie and assisted through the shot process - that was one of his best rounds! Just backing up the confidence and changing the perspective could be huge for the game. I would love to see that video from a 10 handicapper here.

I agree that Rick's attitude could use some work, and ability to be more resilient on the course. Everyone hits bad shots, and you need to be able to get past it and hit the next one the best you can in the moment in order to play consistently (even it consistently does not mean great golf). Mainly he could use some short game lessons as that is the part of his game that lets him down and puts pressure on the long game to perform. It becomes a house of cards quickly if 1 part of the game doesn't go as planned on the day.

Rick, The reason the channel is my favorite is you’re the most honest golf KZbinr out there. You don’t shy away from posting “bad” videos or showing that the game can beat even pga pros down. It’s just as informative and inspirational to watch this break 75 series as it is to watch your instructional videos or the club reviews. I hope next year you can do a USA break 75 tour at some of the classic courses here. Whether it be here in Florida, Pinehurst, Myrtle Beach, the classic courses in California like pebble, or Riviera. Even though you had a tough day on the course, I think we all can relate 100% to how that feels, Rick! The fact that you had a hole in one on that par 3 in the past, executed the shot to incredible near perfection to do it again, then missed the birdie putt is just a testament to the difficulty of the game and just how crazy it is!!! A few months ago I was striking the ball the best I ever have in my life through several rounds and decided to make a range trip to work on a few things. Halfway through my bucket at the range, I was so incredibly embarrassed how horrifically bad I was swinging and striking the ball, I just ended up giving the rest to the young man next to me. Everyone hits bad shots at times, but that day my body and mind seemed to forget how to hit a golf shot completely! Such a strange experience days like that can be and what an unbelievable negative impact it has to your confidence.

Recently I even dreamed about it and in that state of semi consciousness between sleep and waking up I had idea for a new twist on this series. In the past you have done episodes of break 90,85,80. Well how about you take a golfer who shoots on avg somewhere over 90 and you play a number of holes with him/ her and see if you can give them instructions/ tips so they can break 90. You could play 3 or 4 holes with them or if you enjoy it then even more, the same with break 85 and 80. PS. Went home to Liverpool and her uncle Joe ( O'Gara) - for any older members reading this -, who was a member at West Lancs proposed Mum ( and me ) for membership. It's actually quite nice to see these "terrible" videos. I've only ever played 3 legitimate 9 hole rounds in my life. Never even hit a golf ball until 5 months ago. Thev first round I ever did, I was solo. 17th hole, 336 par 4, I ended up hitting what I thought was a beautiful tee shot about 220 yards, and left it sitting square in the middle of the fairway. My next shot went about 20 yards as I hit the top. Next shot went about 30 yards as I again hit the top. Ended up with a 6, but felt like a complete scrub. I just had always assumed people always hit the ball pretty doggone good. So yeah it's actually very encouraging to see someone like yourself just have completely tight strikes, to where you're hitting three off a tee. That's not great for you, but it just helps to show a newbie like myself that 'hey - your going to screw up.... don't be embarrassed by it '.

Rick we all have those days. It was still fun to watch! Also hearing about the hole in one was really cool!

You really are the best KZbinr out there. I know you struggled but your realness is so refreshing. I bought a new set of clubs, I was so excited, and I played like it was my first round ever. It was horrible. I was playing break 125 I think. It was that bad.

I once heard a story of someone, during open qualifying, shooting a hole in one on the 17th at west Lancashire Golf Course. Not sure if you or anyone else has ever heard that story? Great video nice to see real golf being played. Keep them coming 😃👍🏼

For anyone interested, there's something of a secret sale going on over at PXG... I've just picked up an 0211, 22° Hybrid for £99. Massive price drop because it's last year's model. Rick reviewed (and liked) the driver from this range. Worth a look? Thank me later.

I have my first tournament in 7 years tomorrow. You guys give me so much drive to be better but also to enjoy our beautiful game. The best can also be humble, Rick is the perfect example of a true “golfer” 😉

Mr Finch what a golf swing to admire. Bring back GB challenges now. In Mr F at least can in comparison and can execute All lhis shots. Rick what's your realistic handicap to-date? Got to be 10! Footage and content 10/20 cannot fault but your expectations as a pro ? ???? tent
