Jim Norton is a cunt. He back stabbed Louie CK when he had his trouble. Louie helped Norton out quite a bit in his "career". Now no one thinks of Jim Norton anymore...the extreme perversion jokes only go so far. Norton, I've no doubt, has done REALLY awful things that he'd better PRAY don't come out. Ricky Gervais isn't having a go on trans people. He didn't offend them and isn't offending trans people for the sake of offending them. When a comedian is getting seemingly upset about another comedian (like Nish Kumar about Ricky Gervais a few years ago) in a rageful and angry manner, where you can't even tell if that person is joking or not, then something does seem odd and frightening about that. I am for woke culture, but not the popular definition and meaning for "woke" we have now. Woke means, at least for me, a person who is critically thinking, asking questions, takes no particular parties, stays in the depth of reason and science, has self reflection, is tranparent and open about their thought process, can accept criticism and use it as evaluation and prioritizes what is true and falsifiable in the framework of epistemic possibilities. But, what we have recently from our woke culture (way after 1930) is that people are just getting angry, madness, cancelling opinions (any opinion) of people/groups. If you don't know about a subject enough to explain and show evidence of it's credibility and if you are no expert, it is misleading to suggest and pursue to demand any self proclaimed decision about someoneone or something that you think is true. You've become like people from medievil times who burnt people on the stake.

didn't think he was too bad. he's a bit overconfident for the level his jokes are on, but at least unlike Opie, he doesn't mind letting them bomb. speaking of which - he's not Opie. and Jim can't really do host well on his own. his VICE show was weird. these shows do actually need some structure and some curating.
@theamazingbrokenman6 жыл бұрын
I'm not even familiar with the Opie & Anthony era. I started watching this show once in a while after watching Jim's Netflix special. And for some reason from the very beggining I couldn't stand this guy. I can't say why. He's not funny, that's undisputable. But unfunny people don't usually get on my nerve this much. There's something about this guy - something harmless, obnoxious, untrue.

Extras was hilarious as were his podcasts w Karl Pilkington and Stephen Merchant. His hosting of the Golden Globes & trolling of celebrities therein was legendary. @pts52176 жыл бұрын
Luke W Just my opinion. He certainly is talented and funny, I just think he’s become overrated. Jimmy loves him, but only ever seems to reference The Office, as opposed anything he’s ever done. Maybe I overdosed on Gervais, but after a while he starts to feel like a one trick pony, only ever going for shock/cringe while covering everything up with an over the top laugh that starts to sound forced/fake after while. Part of my problem may also be the way his ego has seemed to spiral out of control. Gervais also seemed to borrow heavily from Steve Coogan, who’s comedy persona is practically identical to David Brent. I personally still enjoy The Office regardless of whether or not it was a rip off on some level.
@pts52176 жыл бұрын
Pieis 3 He certainly is funny and talented, guess I just don’t personally enjoy him like I used to...the quality to me has deteriorated. The Office was perfection, but Life on the Road was a big disappointment. Aside from being pointless, the writing seemed lazy and uninspired. His band was cruel to him in such an over the top way that it didn’t feel believable, and then out of nowhere for no reason, they loved him. The whole tone shifted to forced corny sentimentality on par with an episode of Full House. The Office was so masterfully written while Life on the Road felt slapped together...almost like 2 different ppl wrote it. Makes me wonder how Merchant contributed. Did you enjoy it?
