fyi buns in britain means an assortment of sweet small cake type pastries you get from the local bakery. for example doughnuts, gravy rings (chocolate covered doughnuts), jam doughnuts (jam filling), cream fingers, chocolate eclaires, danish pastry with maple syrup and walnuts and custard, custard creams, scones, snowballs (coconut cake balls that are split in two), custard slices, apple cakes, apple pie, apple crumble slices, merangues etc

"Buns" are not that variety where I'm from (North of England) or where I live now (the Midlands). "Buns" are mainly bread dough, baked in an oven. Elephants are supposed to like current buns, which are the common variety of hot-cross buns, but without the cross. "Buns" are not fried, have no fillings, no flakey or puff pastry, no walnuts, maple syrup, custard, cream, apples, or meringue.. What part of the UK are you from? Best Wishes. ☮
