You are absolutely correct about calling mechanically inclined friends for help. For years I always got calls atleast once a week to "help" with Brakes, shocks, wheel bearings etc. Etc. "Help" roughly translates to "you do it while I sit here drinking a beer and annoy the piss out of you."
@stonewolf9459
@stonewolf9459 2 жыл бұрын
I started telling people "I'll help but I'm not changing my shirt, I'll direct you through the dirty parts." (I wear nice shirts most of the time) the ones that needed help still got it, the ones that didn't didn't, and the ones that had common sense, learned to do it on their own.

@@stonewolf9459 yeah, I guess I am just a glutton for punishment. 20+ years and I still have to "help" my buddy every time he needs a wheel bearing, or ball joints etc.He did finally figure out the oil changes and brake jobs 10 or so years ago.

I was talking to a gas station manager the other day. He told me about an incident last week at his store where a guy with a Dodge Charger had come inside to get a drink, he walks out and some teenage car theft is sitting in his drivers seat with the motor running but just sitting there. He stalled it out twice without ever moving it an inch, by the time the owner got to the drivers door, he proceeds to yank the kid out, beat the tar out of him and holds his dumb ass for the cops. He turned over all of the survailence footage to the cops to prosecute the kid, lol.

A buddy of mine used to run a Yota like that with a Chevy 350 under the hood, radiator in the bed with two electric fans on it. That thing could sling mud like nobody's business.

I'm sorry to talk crap about your post. But my two-wheel drive 96 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive has done the same thing you just did. I have had the water coming up over my windshield going through these muddy holes with my two wheel drive Ford Ranger but you're just crawling into this water puddle with your truck all that's so awesome. I've done mud bogging and rock crawling my whole life..

I learned how to shift a manual in a 62 Chevy standing on the trans tunnel in plastic cowboy boots with no seatbelt coon hunting the back roads of Arkansas. Papa say shift work the clutch and I'd do it. Also grew up knowing what joy it was riding in the bed of a truck.

23 yo here. My ma taught me how to drive a stick shift and I've never gone back. Automatic trannys are good and all, but stick shifting is Fun

I've been calling my stick shifts since I was learning to drive at 15... in 2010. I'm 29 this year. I've always called it a "Millennial Theft Protection Device." 2000 F150, then 92 S10, then back to the F150.

i like to think of it as "floating the gears" only time you should HAVE to use a clutch is first geer and then onley if you dont have a hill, but it is an art and one can always get better ,"i grind them every now and then,
