Lol I still remember when I first brazed in an outdoor in the field. I thought it looked good turned the vacc on and man the whistle the leak made and I didn't even have time to cut the pump off as the head installer came walking around the corner just shook his head told me to fix it then walked away😂😂😂 it's ok though cause a couple weeks later he let the charge loose and then I found the piston that he was supposed to have installed in the indoor coil laying in the aux drain pan. Had to pump it down and start over😂😂😂 for the most part installs with him went smooth still wonder what happened to that guy he was a damn good installer

Can I make a suggestion? If you're having trouble with boogers it means that you're heating your brazing rod instead of heating your pipe. You should be using the pipe to melt your rod- not your flame. You won't get the capillary action you need for a good seal if you aren't getting the pipe hot enough to suck the braze in Heat the pipe. Keep the flame on the opposite side of the pipe from the rod. Touch the rod to the fitting. If it doesn't melt, keep heating the pipe. If it does melt, back off the flame and start working your brazing rod around. Super easy, barely an inconvenience

Sometimes a really skilled person will grind and fill with Bondo. Late one night on the freeway I found some people with a snowcat trailer upside down with spindle tore off. I squared it and welded back on to get them on the road. 3 really bad tacks was holding the good spindle on so....Ricky??

When I was in my early 20's I was welding on gas pipelines. I worked my way up to stringer bead hand. I would jog from 40' joint to joint pushing the crew to work faster and faster so we could st records for most joints laid in a day. There would be a hot pass guy behind me trying to keep up. The older guys followed along at their leisure filling and capping under their umbrellars, grilling steaks for lunch making the same money as me.

I had a similar off day today. Except i was cutting 2x4s and was cutting them the wrong angle. Which threw me off by 3 inches each time...at least it was three inches to big so i was able to fix it. But it took me 6 boards to figure that out

My youngest son is probably the best welder I've ever known. He always said that he would like to be half as good as me. That being said I would like to share with you what happened to me. I have Parkinson's and I do have shaking hands I needed to do some welding and I was like a first timer I mean it was pitiful so I finally gave up and called him and asked him to come to do some welding for me. He took one look at the weld , and he was very hard on whoever had tried to weld that. He was making fun of me (unknowingly)and didn't know that I was the one who did it . Once I told him I was the one who welded it he said it was the fault of the welder. He had just finished the job using the same welder. Now he says I was trying to spend time with him and I made that mess as an excuse for him to come over. Some of the things I taught my boys payed off. The biggest one might be respect for your parents.

I was in welding class when a new govenor came in and tried to impress some media.
