Ricky, as many great things he did, running the KT band and being able to sub in and develop world-class artists and keep it all together, is by far his greatest feat

Bluegrass is so awesome. If you don't feel like dancing or drinking while listening to five stringed instruments play heavenly sounds, you don't have a pulse.

What absolutely blows my mind about Kentucky Thunder is that they have someone like Andy Leftwich (playing the amazing mandolin solo) as a 'backup' mandolinist - these boys have some AMAZING talent...

That "fiddle player" is Stuart Duncan, who is prolly the best bluegrass fiddler there is, next to Mike Cleveland. The kid on the mando is Andy Leftwich and normally plays the fiddle. Whole band kicks a** individually and are multi-instrumentalists. I had the privilege of going to one of their shows this past spring. Had nice conversations with some of the guys after the show. That is one thing I love about bluegrass, you almost always get to chat with the performers after their shows.
