My son, my only child passed on 10/29/22 at 25 yrs old. I came home and found him unresponsive and Police and EMT's said he has passed. My heart scattered into pieces, both my heart and soul went with my son that day. I had to wait to be able to go back in the house and told my son as he laid in the body bag that I loved him and to look up to the light and go to Jesus. I said that to him 3 times and the coroner wanted to take my son and that's the last time I saw him. My son was so talented he played and wrote his own music and songs. He played the piano, guitar, keyboard and percussion on the soundboard. I still have all his stuff and may try to get it published once I'm up to it. But listening to this song reminds me so much of my son. He did struggle with depression but he volunteered and advocated for the homeless, he donated his time, money and heart to different outreaches up here. He helped at the soup kitchen and planted a community garden. He volunteered at the BARN in Brewer/Bangor. He put his heart into his work, volunteering, music, writings and lyrics. He was a kind Soul with a generous, compassionate heart. He was a bright light in this world but now his light has been dimmed. I'll LOVE and miss you forever my son, Robert, Forever 25, Love Mom

I lost my beautiful baby sister in 1998. She suffered from mental illness. She was only 26 . She loved her savior so much. She took her own life. People tried to tell us she would go to hell because she committed suicide. They are completely wrong about that. Her gravestone reads " I'll meet you in heaven"

I had a son who committed suicide... Never saw it coming, and I'm a licensed psychiatric worker, since 1975.. Sometimes you can never tell. I'm not quite sure what being Canadian had to do with having difficulty understanding some American peoples depth of feeling for country music. I too am Canadian, LOVE the Stones, Zeppelin, Clash et al (and of course the Hip ;) ) but i cry when i hear this. Between the heartfelt lyrics and Vince Gill's stunning voice - the finest male singer in all of country music imo, the sentiments expressed are nothing if not universal. They transcend cultural boundaries and genres like they're crossing a 3 foot wide fishin' stream. I of course puke when i hear jingoistic GARBAGE like Toby Keith and Hank jr (his father must be SO disappointed) but give me REAL country like Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Kris, and then the younger breed like Steve Earle, Dwight and Vince amongst others and i could be from the moon and it would still touch my heart. Good music is good music - period. And, oddly, one of my favorite 'country' performers are... Ready for this...? The Rolling Stones! 5 old English who could give a phd class in American country music to 95% percent of these god-awful new pop country wet blankets!

I lost my Dad back in May, mu best friend and man words cant describe how much i miss him. This was his song that he played at his mother's funeral in 1995 after she was murdered. He never overcame that loss. I stuck by his side through all the hell he put himself through beating himself up over something he couldn't control. Im almost 34 now. Im so sorry for your loss and nothing i can say will make anything better, believe me i know. Try to stay strong and keep your head up. May they rest in Heaven, your Father and mine.

Lost my best friend today from Covid-19. He fought like hell to beat it but after four hard weeks he could hold on no more. I've always found my heart in Vince's music even when it was hard as stone. Vince, Ricky and Alison are my favorites. Thank you Lord for giving them to this wretched world so that we can see your light and know you have not forgotten us. This song was played at my uncle’s funeral back in 2011. He was a retired war veteran, died at the young age of only 43. Joined the Army right out of High School. Fought in a few big wars. He was injured in his chest while at war, so they put a pacemaker in his chest, and years later, somehow, he had a heart attack. That’s what he died from. It’s really hard to hear this song without crying, like, I just wanna bawl at the moment. He died a hero though, and I find solace in the fact that he is no longer in pain. Thank you to every veteran who has fought for the freedom of this country. If you’re a veteran and you’re reading this, thank you for your service.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Ross. I lost my wife to ovarian cancer in August 2017, a month before our 38th wedding anniversary. Then in October 2019, I lost my fist born to the same demon. She was 38. Sitting here crying like a baby :(. I just realized that I posted this while on my daughter's youtube account. She was 'bilbopooh' - an extraordinarily talented writer whose two favorite characters were Bilbo Baggins and Winnie the Pooh. She has a youtube channel called 'Bilbopooh's ong Corner' with several songs she wrote and sang. We played "We Each Can Do A Little" at her funeral. It captures her spirit rather well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqW4mJqXha95p7c

This song was played at my father's funeral. He was just 45 when he passed from Lou Gerigs disease. He fought hard, attended my high school graduation in a wheelchair on a ventilator and made it to my sophomore year at auburn university in alabama. It's so true, he was legally blind and earned 2 bachelor degrees from the university of Alabama in Birmingham, and worked past time that he should have stopped, but most of all, he was an awesome dad..sometimes those that can't see so good, see the best, and love the best. I'm memory of my father. he's jumping and shouting in heaven. Praise God! I'm blessed

We buried our son yesterday, and it’s been a rough week. When it was time to pick songs for his service, this was the first one I thought of. The words fit our son perfectly, as though Vince wrote it about him. He was our only son, my boy and hearing this song brought a peacefulness over me, and I heard Vince say at the beginning how it has helped others. Thank you Vince for writing such a beautiful song in tribute to your brother. God bless you.

@Tara Lanzerotti, I agree, this is Awesome, a beautiful song, as well as a tribute. That being said, here's a thought that I have posted (now edited with additional thoughts) in reply to several comments similar to yours. I'll share it with you for future consideration. The wishes at the end are for you as well. Here goes... (edit: Although it is easier to first go to a negative thought when seeing a "thumb down") please consider that many who watch videos, or hear songs filled with emotional content, such as this one, are often watching, perhaps remembering through tear streaked eyes, their own fallen loved ones. On such emotional videos (edit: like this) there is a higher chance of mistakenly hitting the wrong icon and not catching the error. I myself have done so but usually catch the error. I now make it a practice to view the video again a few days later to make sure that if I mistakenly hit the down instead of the up I correct it. I also know that some folks will hit the down icon because the content is sad, not intending any disrespect. (edit: And, sadly, there are those who just cannot help themselves and feel the need to be hurtful or disrespectful regardless of the seriousness of the situation. For those people we must keep them in prayer that they will have their stone hearts and blind eyes opened.) Anyway, just my thoughts on the whole " 👍 /👎" possibilities. God Bless you and Keep you Safe in His Loving Embrace. Have an Awesome week ahead. Tara, I realize your comment is from a year ago, but I am just now seeing this particular performance coming from another audio only. All three of these performers are super talented and Bless us by sharing their talents. Again, Tara, God Bless you.

The only reason that I didn't play this at my Mother's memorial was because we had played it at my sister's, just a few years before. My Mother was still alive then and Lord knows, I miss them both. For Mom, I had them play the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band/Johnny Cash version of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". Both beautiful and meaningful songs, but I knew that Mom would have loved that one, she was a singer and loved country music and gospel.
