I met Ricky Van Shelton in 1986. I had just moved to Universal City, Texas to work at Randolph AFB (North San Antonio) in March 1986, so it was sometime shortly after March. Ricky was at a K-Mart store for meet and greet, or let's say more like out for promotional purposes. At that time, he was literally new and barely starting out and not really known at the time. Ricky was a genuinely nice man. Too bad the music industry destroyed him for no good reason. He has that perfect country singing voice and I just love his music.
