Trains at Meadowhall - 31/05/2022

Filmed on 31/05/2022. Whilst on the way to the Steel city of Sheffield, we decided to stop off at a brand new station which we haven't covered as yet but provides an interesting junction just beyond this station and home to one of the biggest shopping centres close to Sheffield. This is Meadowhall (Season 9 Episode 16)
A interesting station Meadowhall where there are quite a distance away from each other between platforms 1-2 & 3-4. This is because the line branches off for either Doncaster via Rotherham and via Wakefield Westgate or to Barnsley then to Huddersfield and Leeds via Wakefield Kirkgate.
Only Northern and Transpennine Express are the 2 train operators which serves this station as Cross Country Trains services speeds through Meadowhall not stopping at this station.
Just beyond Meadowhall station is a few disused platforms which is lead to believe could be the former platforms for the Woodhead Line (?) But can't be 100% sure on this.

Them Disused Platforms used to be a station called Brightside and it got closed down when Meadowhall Interchange first opened in 1990. along side with Shopping Centre. because it was to nearly between 2 stations not like Sheffield to Huddersfield via Penistone route it has stations between Shepley and Huddersfield like stations every 2 mins if you watch my full journey you will see why. Anyway great video of my 2nd local station.

To be honest with you Rob, I have no idea. I'm guessing that GBRF might have a contract with the HS2 but I really cannot be too sure. GBRF does run Liverpool to Drax freight working so they would use various class 66's.
