One day, people will enjoy demos and work that was done to show if it’s for them or not. If it’s not for you, ignore is your friend. It’s 2024. We know gear can cost. That well has dried up. We know you’ve got toys that blow. Go forth and flow. Drink the creatorade, not the haterade. Life is short. Thank you for taking the time to show what this can do. Stay safe sir.

Agree as well. Really hoping to see this trend continue with more hands on control for live acts. Maybe a whole standard for effects that aren’t “pedal format”. I love rack units, but they need hands on controls like pedals.

the other thing that makes hardware awesome is you can play with it with your eyes closed if you get good at it, where you cant click a mouse and do stuff with your eyes closed in a VST, theres something magical about doing sound design with your eyes closed, it makes you listen more and feel it more
@bonesnaps3 ай бұрын
Perhaps it's just the concept of being able to completely zone out of what your doing, and zone into the music itself. With physical instruments of any kind I feel I can truly get attached. When deeply focused and in the zone with them, they can it feel like an extension of yourself. Guitar or piano for example. Computers (or keyboard and mouse rather) will always feel like a "tool" to me, though they are still insanely powerful and flexible and I use them everyday for a variety of hobbies. But you can't really turn your brain off/close your eyes and just "play from the soul" on them, for lack of better words. lol
@eliash.61423 ай бұрын
You can just map midi controllers to software reverb and achieve the same
@catscanmeow3 ай бұрын
@@eliash.6142 no you cant because midi controllers arent ergonomically designed in their layout, look at the nightverb the spacing and layout of the knobs is nothing like a midi controller, also midi controllers mostly only have 127 steps of resolution and you have to spend the time setting it up where as hardware has already been set up and problem solved. Midi controllers are usually setup like a grid, which is fine if youve got ONE synth or effect you want to play with, but if you want multiple effects or synths it makes it harder to memorize what each knob and function does with your eyes closed

Love the many buttons. Effects were either pedals or rack mounted modules years ago. Although it has changed over the years, I feel manufacturers still keep treating effects as a small box with only a few buttons. This Nightverb has great hands on control, I love it! It's almost like a crossover between a synth and an effect unit.

How would you compare it to Eventide Space or Black Hole? Would it be fair to say that this is a livelier, less dark of a character to reverb? What sold the Eventide for me was not only the weirdness of its algorithmic reverbs, but more its dark, alien, almost harrowing nature, particularly when it comes to Black Hole, Ekospace God and Pulsar presets. The ability to do deep, rhythmic drone tracks with it has eclipsed Strymon Big Sky and Amplitube X-Space for me, even though the price tag was frankly way too scary for me. How well does this do drones in comparison?

Interesting line at the beginning about Erica Synths reaching out and asking if you wanted to review it, but also offered money on top? I was always under the assumption that manufacturers sent items for review at no or little cost and you either had to send it back or got to keep it. That line seems to imply that they paid for the review in addition. Should this video have been marked as sponsored then? This line of thought stemming from Midlife Synthesists recent video on gear youtube as well. Not that I'm dismissing comments in the video (this based on the trust I have in Ricky's opinions - but that also adds a razor's edge balance of "how much weight does the person's reputation carry"). Interesting times.

@@krazywabbit Agreed. You can complete dislike (or have no interest in) the "game" as it were (how they make a living / get gear / keep gear / etc) - If you ignore all that, appreciate their opinion + demos over the stuff the manufacturer releases; then you've gotten value in my opinion.
