Ricochet gave notice to WWEE that he will not be re-signing., and rumors are circulating that his next landing spot will be AEW. ‪@JDfromNY‬gives his thoughts on Ricochet leaving WWE, and why it might not be all that big of a difference if he joins AEW. I could see Ricochet being a world champ in AEW after a few years…he’s easily on swerve’s level and swerve was seen as a mid card guy in NXT and WWE for his short term there, and now he’s elevated and world champ. You really never know.

Ricochet is a damn good wrestler but his promo is lacking. I get it...he has had success. IC title, North American champion, US champion, Speed champion (if you want to call it an accolade), etc. I guess Ricochet feels like he has hit his ceiling and I don't blame him. HHH didn't do him any favors but Vince didn't either. Remember that 1-2 minute match with Brock where he got squashed? After that, Ricochet was buried. AEW might be a good home for him but after the dream matches are done, what then?

And here you AEW stans want to chirp at WWE but defend TK who turned AEW into WWE. Only difference between the two is one is more for hard-core wrestling and less storyline where as the other one is more for storyline and building proper matches. Everyone you mentioned besides Owen is in AEW, And those in AEW that you mentioned are either dealing with injuries or just came off an injury while working in AEW. If AEW keeps playing the role as daredevil, they will have their own Owen situation because of how reckless they are.

Well the truth is that WWE will absolutely not care all that much about Ricochet leaving. Because as great as he is in the ring, his promo and character work is honestly pretty ordinary. Probably not his fault, but in WWE promo and character are always MUCH more important than in Ring skills. He will definitely have some classic matches in AEW but, as you pointed out, AEW has TEN Ricochets over there. So there is definitely a danger of him getting lost in the shuffle. Still - he is making the right move. He is at his physical peak right now - and will absolutely be much much bigger outside of WWE than he ever was inside.

Facts as usual JD 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾, I've been a ricochet fan for 7 years ever since I saw an indie match between him and Cody back when Cody went and bet on himself not to mention seeing glimpses of his run as prince puma on Lucha Underground. Even with tournament wins, The NA, US, IC, and Speed championships under his belt his run in 2019 after that anemic US title run where he never got his win back against AJ was what destroyed his momentum because of Vince as usual not taking a HHH built talent seriously and then not have him win the tag titles during the pandemic with Cedric Alexander especially with an endorsement by Paul Heyman is ridiculous waiting two plus years in between title wins where at least on SD he had a decent rebuild and run. HHH pretty much gave you the next AJ styles in ricochet and because he's had to clean the absolute Swamp of Creative trash that Vince left behind guys like ricochet who are LITERALLY 10 star athletes in that ring never got their feet under them or credibility they deserved such as winning a King of the Ring vs Xavier woods getting it in 2021 in the final against Finn balor. I don't trust AEWs locker room because of how consistently injured they get taking too many high risks and I'm over their hype but when you have as many pro wrestlers that in actuality compliment ricochet's style the Continental, TNT, and ROH World/TV titles are built for him. Hopefully he makes his way back to WWE where he can become world champion.

And Vince. Ultimately, Vince was the one who killed any hype he had. He could have made him the next AJ Styles, and instead, he had Brock Lesnar annihilating Ricochet in 90 seconds. Ricochet needs work on his promo skills, but Vince has done this to a lot of NXT callups before he was finally brought down. Ricochet came along at a time when Vince was obsessed with killing anything connected to Hunter’s version of NXT. Ricochet, Keith Lee, Aleister Black, Andrade, Finn Balor, Shayna Baszler, Candice LeRae, Karrion Kross, just some of the many casualties of Vince’s crusade against Hunter’s baby. We can also add Adam Cole to that list since he was the face of NXT and pushed like a STAR but jumped ship to AEW after Vince’s plans for him scared him away.

Ricochet will probably go on his own for a little while, perhaps freelance all over the place for a little while then back to WWE.I like Hikuleo, huge guy with imposing presence. I think he would be great as an enforcer for the Bloodline, never been crazy about his wrestling but WWE can make his it work. Hope he can breathe a little life into this new Bloodline, not too impressed so far. I hope if Jacob Fatu ever arrives that he is a heel.

Ricochet don’t fit the WWE style, never did never will. He can’t talk, and you cannot see him carrying the company at the top of the card. His style has AEW written all over it. I’m pretty sure the high flying matches with Osprey will be “bangers”.

AJ isn’t a super great promo; he’s just believable enough on the mic and knows his character well, but it’s not like he’s Roddy Piper or CM Punk on the stick. If they made Ricochet more aggressive, he had potential to be in the AJ Styles position down the road. But Vince didn’t look at him because he was one of Hunter’s kids, and Vince was purposely sabotaging NXT.

Its time we accept aew for what it is now and probably always has been. That is a glorified mainstream indie promotion thats why they have great talent but no game changers. The booking proves that and they are more concerned with having 4 or 5 star matches with a dream opponent. To me all of the wrestling buisness is stale and boring at most times but at least wwe is trying to make things interesting or matter. Cant say the same with all INDIE wrestling.
